I'm not a fan of Didi

Sorry, this post is kinda long. I just want to cover all the ways Didi has bothered me.

I'm in the middle of the first season and when Lavon and Didi decided to start dating, I literally cringed. Most of the characters and their choices are not realistic, so I don't tend to get hung up on the crazy things they do, but I can't retain that forgiving attitude towards Didi. I don't think the type of character Lavon is would actually like someone like her. She is a complete nutbag.

Yes, I can understand how going on a date with a man for the first time and having him talk about love and marriage comes across as romantically immature and way too forward, but for her to tell almost every girl in town that the mayor is obsessed with her seemed like she was stroking her own ego more than she was venting to her friends. She was being even more romantically immature, by treating her own dating life like gossip fuel.

The way she handled the situation with her ex was even more romantically immature. It's a small town and your boyfriend is the mayor. If there is a newcomer that he could easily spot you with, then I think she should've felt obligated to at least give him a heads up just to cover her own ass. Of course, the mayor is going to see and hear about everything going on. Maybe if she was in a big city and she just wanted to keep her business to herself instead of bringing baggage into her new courtship, that would be fine, but that's not possible in this town. For her to assume that Lavon wouldn't find out and wouldn't be concerned about what feelings might resurface upon seeing a former lover is just really inconsiderate and arrogant. When he spoke honestly with her, the way an adult should handle their relationships, she ran away and avoided him like a child.

When she found that picture of Lemon, she didn't even have the decency to ask him about it or give him a chance to defend himself. I mean honestly, they had an affair when George went away, that was wrong, but after all, it's more up to Lemon to do the right thing and if she decided against telling him, then Lavon is not going to take it upon himself to bring personal and devastating news to George. He fell for someone who was spoken for. He knew he was hiding it from George, but he had to respect Lemon's choice to keep it a secret, because he cares for her. I'm sure he would've told Didi who it was if he could've when he admitted that he had some leftover feelings for someone in his past. He's been as honest with Didi as he could be and she's made the biggest deal out of everything and handled it like a 13 year old girl would.

I'd hate to say it, but I'm rooting for them to break up. I hope she does one more stupid thing and Lavon realizes she's too high maintenance for him. He's a genuine guy and he's got a lot on his plate. He just needs a drama free girl that he can come home to, not a winded up little twit that constantly disappears without any honesty or explanations.

Well first, don't worry, you don't have to suffer through much more of Didi. She's gone before S1 ends.

Didi was certainly not my favorite character, and she was fairly annoying in a lot of respects. I never thought that much about her, certainly not as much as you have :), but I do remember thinking it was wrong of her to tell every woman in BlueBell that Lavon was obsessed with her. She's new in town herself, who does she think she is? She was right to be freaked out about the way Lavon reacted but she should have just ended things with him and been done with it.

Yes, she should have confronted Lavon directly about the picture of Lemon but come on, we all know on TV shows and movies that's not how it works. They need to create tensions and complicated situations. If she asks Lavon about the picture up front he would, I assume, come up with some excuse and they would move on and be fine. The writers needed there to be problems for them and they also needed Zoe to find out about Lavon and Lemon so this took care of both of those.

I hope you are enjoying the show outside of Didi. It's one of my favorites, especially the first couple seasons.

Yea, that's true. I guess it just got to me. Usually all of the characters do some crazy and stupid things and it never annoyed me the way she did. But, yea, I am really loving the show so far! I'm definitely binge watching.
