Why do all these shows ignore..

We have heard how stars collapse.. LOTS !

and we have heard how at the center of every Galaxy is a Black Hole.

so..... uhhhhhhh

WTF ?

Where is all the talk about the colossal Stars that must have existed then ?
Think about it.. see what i am saying ?

and if they didn't come from Stars then i think we have a rather interesting mystery on our hands.

and if they DID come from stars then that is One HELL of an interesting topic !
No one EVER talks about..

just imagine stars the size of a Galaxy exploding etc

i just don't get it.. why does no one say where the hell they came from ?
all these shows are quick to tell us how they found them etc.
but they all side step completely where the hell they came from.
which may be the most interesting space story of all (besides the big bang)

and hey if these huge ass black holes came from stars why did we not find one yet ?
they should be easy to see lol
if they don't come from stars then do we have a new way to create black holes ?
i thought we only knew of ONE way.

hmmm ?

They talk a little bit about the big ones but wouldn't stars have some sort of loose limit in size before they would collapse? I always figured the super massive ones became that way because they had a zillion years of eating under their belt. Who knows for sure...

Please, go...Stop smiling, it's not a joke. Please leave...The party's over. Get out.

thanks for weighing in.. hmmm lol

Maybe you could see if any experts are on social media sites like facebook/twitter etc. and ask what the current thoughts are. Michelle Thaller responded to me once and it made my day.

i would be more than happy to have my day made by Amy Manzer :)

had to look and see who Michelle is but hey she's a fun enthusiastic girl cool !

i just wish they would ease up a little on this show with repeating things.
the CGI parts are pretty good though..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supermassive_black_hole#Formation

Supermassive black holes aren't formed by supermassive stars. Perhaps they start off as normal black holes and grow over time through the process of accretion and merging with other nearby black holes. Or they might be primordial black holes that formed directly after the Big Bang, no stellar collapse involved. Other ideas are mentioned in the Wikipedia entry and are very interesting. Research is ongoing.

ya but is that what i am talking about ?
are the ones at the center of every galaxy a super massive class ?
i guess i should read the link ;)

thanks for the info but it sounds like we have no idea LOL
and it's a subject ripe for TV show matter i think yet is 100% ignored :(

think of how much would have to be eaten to create such a big one.. for that theory.
then you have to re-think galaxies and assume they were all far larger right ?
no matter how you try and explain them away it creates FAR larger questions i think
shaking up what we *though we knew already.
i think there is some "super massive" gaps in our space science knowledge LOL

reply

If you're serious, you should study to become an astrophysicist. You'll learn all about the current theories for supermassive black hole formation, the current evidence supporting those theories, the techniques used to gather that evidence, and the areas where there are "gaps" that a curious future-astrophysicist like yourself might research further to advance the knowledge and understanding of the field.

Excuse me, where are you taking us? Mexico
What's in Mexico? Mexicans

reply

i looked on wikipedia after i posted and there is some theories i sort of understand but i am not a scientist.. i regard those people as raw pure genius.
for them to extrapolate and glean out conclusions via methods of mathematical analysis and deduction blows me away !

HOW they have learned most of what we know is fascinating too not just the info itself.

anyway the theories mentioned at wikipedia deserve a show all their own !

reply

Well, I hope you watched the last episode, about the Milky Way, since it covered a lot about supermassive black holes. I hadn't realized we had direct evidence supporting the idea of SMBs creating the galaxy instead of vice versa, but it was a pleasant surprise.

They've found out that for some reason each BLACK HOLE at the CENTER of a GALAXY is about 1.5 TIMES the size of a GALAXY.

So it's size also depends upon the size of a GALAXY itself.

In Season 3 (which wasn't around when you asked your question) they discussed this and theorized that the super-massive black holes may have formed so quickly, from so much stuff, that they skipped the star stage.

I hate IMDB's Signature policy...

reply

The theory that we or our Universe may also already exist inside of a BLACK HOLE is an interesting idea as well.

Maybe the BIG BANG was caused by material from another VERSE FALLING into a SMB thus also creating our Universe ... similar to the way our current star is also the result of still another STAR going SUPER NOVA ... which also creates the material that forms our star???

That might also help to explain the reason why we haven't seen any Black holes floating around OUTSIDE of the center of other galaxies yet???

all you need to know about black holes (or atleast what we know so far)

Ignore the movies.

As I understand it, SMBH are formed due to merging blackholes over millions/billions of years.
