Thoughts on the ending

I will say the finale was great.

For me, that was the lamest thing I've ever seen.

Burn, Hollywood, Burn!- from the incomparable album Fear of a Black Planet by Public Enemy.

It didn't feel like a finale; I don't have a full sense of resolution. But its over, so we move on.

The slight 'breaking the fourth wall' was kinda cool.

reply

I thought it was good. It would have been nice if all of them had a resolution to their characters besides Haskell. Overall it was worth watching. You could tell by the last scene with the photo they knew that was it for the show.

I'll miss this silly, silly show. I laughed at every dumb episode, but it was really like a comic strip, it was so light, and so dopey, yet you looked forward to seeing it again. Except for that idiotic lesbian fling episode  so vile and stupid. Otherwise, many chuckles and the cast was pretty good!

reply

Yeah Kirsten said they all knew it was a possibility which was the purpose of the scene. I think I heard somewhere else that there was another cliffhanger scene filmed just in case it wasn't cancelled but since they knew about the whole brand transformation thing, they knew it was a good possibility.

The finale sucked and displayed every reason why the new season was such a failure. Leah Remini was a terrible addition. Holly became a slapstick caricature like Urkel. That whole "oops I knocked you in the fountain" was predictable and pathetic attempt at comedy.Haskell was the last funny thing about this show until they made that stupid storyline about him getting back with his wife. They all became caricature with no depth by the last season. The comedy went down the toilet.

It was fine. I remember when most finales were just another episode so I really don't expect some Earth shattering experieince when I watch a finale.

WE GOT MOVIE SIIIIIGN!

reply

Oh damn,it's the show finale. I just watched it and didn't know if it was the season or show finale. I really liked this silly show. Bummer.

reply

I loved it. Haskell was the most unlucky in love out of the guys, so it was great to see him get a happy ending.

Stuart didn't need a woman in his life to be happy, so that was great to see him successful in the restaurant. Same for Holly, the whole "marrying herself" was silly BUT that was when she realised she also could be happy on her own.

Eden was getting her college degree and Phil, well, he's happy being Phil Chase.

So they did set up the "finale" seeds quite well, so I'm not too bothered about them not tying every little string into a happy "here's what they're doing now" bow
