A lot of potential: Can't Wait to See where Förstner goes next with this

There's a sot of graphic novel 1990's Clive Barker's Undying video game feel to this movie that I rather like a lot, but then a lot of the actual character scenes make little sense... for example When Sophie gets the car started, and the killer shows up, instead of driving away or even trying to, she gets out of the van and runs into the woods, in slo-motion no less, with him walking slowly behind her, and her obligatory fall, that and the bodies in barrels, makes the script feel incredibly cliched

The movie has potential, for sure, but some glaring problems as well... the artwork in the hotel is awesome though, definitely pay attention to that!

Some will hate this one others will find it surprisingly entertaining and unique. It's not perfect, but I enjoyed it. I'd rate it a 6-7, I'm really looking forward to what comes next for the series. It's Lucien Förstner debut writing/directing feature film, Germany... so for that I give it some leeway...

I think one of the best horror directorial debuts I've seen is Bill Paxton's Frailty.

The jokes in the movie remind me of the old game Shadow Man... if you know that game, there's a great joke at the end that the killer tells...

The joke in Shadow Man goes:

A killer was walking late one night through the woods with his young victim... the child looked up at the killer and said, "Please mister, I'm scared!", and the killer looked at his young victim sympathetically and said, "How do you think I feel? I have to walk back through these woods all by myself!"
