Nationality of soldier in episode 2?

Can anyone tell me what country the female doctor from episode 2 (listed here as Major Beverly Havenhurst), the one that Mr Civilian Hotshot had a fling with, was supposed to be from?

She had an Anglo name but spoke with some generic Eastern European accent.

She also wore a German uniform (without any rank or unit insignias!) but in reality there are no German soldiers stationed in Southern Afghanistan.

Any ideas?

Neither Beverly nor Ravenhurst are typical german names.

In one of the scenes -- the one where she and the other doctor are eating and Rebeca talks to them, if I'm not mistaken -- you can see a German flag on her uniform.

Best regards,

Thanks for your replies guys, I guess.

I have to ask though: Are you trying to troll me by just rephrasing things I already stated in my OP?

Anyway, I'm just gonna go with the assumption that the people, who are responsible for providing the actors on this show with their uniforms, are either lazy or stupid.

Peace.

The show's 3-level gomers running the costuming department committed yet more "malpractice" with tonight's miserably-predictable episode. The USAF now issues a service-specific field uniform that is altogether different from the other service branches. They do not wear the old Army DCU's as with that bipolar Air Force el-tee being sent home.

Six Actual......OUT!

When is "now"?

This show is set in 2006.

Sorry to disillusion you, but when I was serving in Kabul with ISAF HQ from March to Oct 2009 all US mil pers wore the US army combat uniform regardless of service. Only the US marines had a different one and not all marines wore the different combat uniform. Distinctive uniforms were being approved but it takes time to get all into the new uniforms.

She was supposed to be from Germany but her accent is definitely eastern european and not german!

In episode 4 we saw a male german soldier (picking up his food)...

Both easily recognizeable wearing the german flecktarn BDU with the german flag on the sleeve.

The German uniform was a giveaway. She was supposed to be German, despite the name and accent. And since the hospital is a NATO unit not a national unit, all NATO members can supply personnel just like ISAF HQ in Kabul. When I served in Kabul in 2009, I had German officers working with me and under me. When I visited Kandahar, there were German service people serving there as well. Yes the majority of Germans were stationed with their national contingent in the North of Afghanistan but not every German in Afghanistan stayed North or was stationed North in Mas-ar-sharif.

There is a number of soldiers in the German army from Russian or German-Russian background. So having a German soldier with a Russian accent wouldn't be unheard of. The first German soldier killed in battle in Afghanistan was the son of a German-Russian veteran of the Soviet Army, who fought in Afghanistan in the 1980s...

Why she has an English name with that accent I cannot explain...
