Him & Darnell thought they were so clever to put Carly in the bottom 2 instead of Alayna like it should've been just so they could get rid of Lara because they didn't like her. Alayna had a good chance going home last week & Lara might still be around & probably would've left this week. He wasn't strategic last week at all. I'm glad it backfired on him & he went home.

Not having to deal with her anymore was strategic. I found listening to her for an hour a week annoying. I can't imagine it full time. They probably all did better work for not having her there.
Poor work is what backfired on him. I'm really, really surprised he made such a basic mistake. He should have known that the reference art could never look like a photorealistic 3D piece just by looking at the angle of the shadows. The shadow is under the camera, as if it is on a table that simply isn't there and can't be there.
The image linked below had the light coming from a corner more like above, to the front and to the left. It showed three dimensional shape much better and with some careful shadowing he could have improved even that.
This is a different camera but it illustrates lighting and shadow that's relatively similar to the reference art Willy picked. Note that the light comes straight down from the top of the camera. Well how the heck do you realistically do that to make it look like the camera is just lying on its back on on someone's skin? You can't.
Actually, it was hard to find reference art that was that bad. I just hit google image and poof - a bunch of good ones.
Was it a good tattoo? I'd say it was pretty good. I wouldn't say it was great. However Darnell's was a little better because part of his image had a 3D realistic feel and none of Darnell's did.
