The vampire in daylight?

I only saw a bit of the parent show, so dont know if it was mentioned, but how does the vamp get to be out in the light? Also is that a silver stud in the werewolves nose?!

Because those things have nothing to do with the show. Vampires appear to find bright sunlight a bit hard on the eyes, but that's all.

Thanks for that. So like the vamps in True blood cast a reflection and tolerate garlic and Lestat(Interview with the vampire) can look at crucifixes, the writers picked the bits of mythology that work for them and ignore the rest. I was curious, in a "How does that work", rather than a " How dare they have a vampire in daylight" sort of a way, and really liked the story.

It's not that they 'pick what they want and ignore the rest', it's more they make up what they want to tack on. Cause when you get down to it, the modern vampire is just that, modern. Even Dracula could walk in the daylight, and there seems to be a bit of a throwback with Being Human, and namely Twilight allowing it again.

Yeah, Toby Whithouse's theory on the show is that vampires have evolved past the sunlight-into-ash condition. But bright light does hurt their eyes, as the previous poster mentioned. Vampires in daylight has actually become a popular theme in the last couple decades. Kindred: the Embraced also touted daywalkers. Especially if they've recently fed. The one movie that stands out most against it, though, is 30 Days of Night. Brutal, and quite awesome.
