I miss the old Mandy

Molly Ephraim was perfect in that role and so pretty. She played Mandy as sweet and ditzy but also smart in her own way. The new actress plays her too dumb, I think.

Sounds more like a writing problem than an acting problem. I thought she was fine and the writing was on point.

I haven't researched it but I assume that it's many of the same writers as before. Two actresses can give very different interpretations of the same exact role.

Tim Allen jokes that the two recastings aren't as "traumatic" as Darren on Bewitched

The new Mandy is horrible. She ruined the premiere for me. Sure, they gave her the worse lines that weren't funny. But just made her seem very dumb. Ephraim grew with Mandy, while this new actress has been dumber down.

Her height and look compared to the other sisters looked off. So, for me, it didn't help. Let's cast an actress that looks completely different from what we know.

Agree Molly ephraim was perfect as she started out as the ditsy one and changed over the years to become more sassy and normal plus she had natural chemistry with Christoph Sanders who had perfect height with her.
Molly McCook's Mandy is back to where she started out in season 1 but even more ditsier acting wise, they couldn't do much with the height but could have atleast coloured her hair black as the blonde stuck out as face wise she is quite similar looking to Molly Ephraim.

I miss her too. I didn't watch the new episode because they recast her. She was the only reason I watched the show...I couldn't quit looking at her. I've seen every episode. Couldn't tell you what the show was about. Apparently it has a right wing slant.

Yep, that's right. I guess that's not very PC in this day and age lol.

100000000000% agreed. Did not mind the new Boyd, but this new Mandy? Between Eve being part time and this, I may remember to watch LMS but won't be upset if I forget.

reply

They should have just written her as a completely different character. Make her the smartest one and least vain. Why not?

reply

I agree Molly Ephraim made that role, but I am willing to give the new actress a shot. She was OK in the debut, even though I definitely missed the old actress. We'll see how the rest of the season goes. I just don't understand why Ephraim didn't want to return to a popular series.

reply

Depends on who you ask. Either a) she moved on and was doing different things or b) she's very liberal and was not happy with the conservative slant.
