I miss the old Eve....

Sure, Eve has always been a little nasty with her mouth, but she was also the kid getting up at dawn to shovel snow so she had money to spend on Christmas presents.
When she was the tomboy soldier, she showed so much love for so many things and wanted to make the world a better place. It made her unique out of the three daughters.
Now she just wants to be a star, and I find her trite and dull.
She doesn't need to blow money on recording equipment either. In this sad day and age, you just need to get yourself a YouTube channel.
Kristen and Eve used to be the two hard workers, and now it looks like Mandy has pulled in front and Eve is the self absorbed bum of the three.
All three girls have always been spoiled- and that is on the parents. But I never understood why Eve didn't do something in the military. Why did she give it all up just because she didn't get her top choice of schools.

reply

Agreed. Her story line has gotten so bad. She is acts like she is so entitled. But I guess Mandy does, too.

+2, I just watched last week's episode and thought it sucked. Surprised it has an 8.3 rating.

So what you are saying is that things change in life?

All three girls have always been spoiled- and that is on the parents.

but she was also the kid getting up at dawn to shovel snow so she had money to spend on Christmas presents.

Which is it?

reply

I think these girls have always had more money and privilege than many. In that sense, they were spoiled. But for the first couple of seasons, Eve was also proving she had a work ethic, so even though she had access to all kinds of fancy hobbies the average family might not be able to afford, she was learning about how to earn things as well.
So which is it? Both.

reply

Exactly. I'm sure she could have jsut asked for money to buy Christmas gifts, especailly since she was only ike 14 or 15 at the time she was doing the shoveling if i remember right. So not like she could as easily get a job at a store somewhere. But she tried to do what she could to show she was a hard worker and stuff.

Think she still has that a bit though. It is jsut in a different manner. She is essentially working 2 jobs as a musician and coffee shop (?) to support herself while living in Kristen's crappy basement paying rent instead of for free at home. So wouldn't say she's lazy now or anything, she is just doing things diferently adn has a new focus.

Do agree that she seemed to drop the military thing quickly. She was very into it and seemed very dedicated, but then when she didn't get inot Westpoint she just dropped it completely.

reply

It's both. I don't believe the parents encouraged a strong work ethic with the girls (the whole arc of getting a housekeeper attests to that), however Eve worked hard anyway because she was her dad's son and wanted to make him proud. She did it on her own. This last season she has been a flake having a midlife crisis at the ripe old age of 18.

reply

OP agreed

I'm not saying always but usually every family has one child with their *beep* together and I thought it was her. I do not like her characters direction.

I'm watching old episodes that I missed, and I find her to be a self-centred brat. When she didn't want to take art, because she wasn't getting a good grade, she was at the polls claiming the proposal was supported by Isis, but then her "best friend" was outside the room, saying how she needed the music scholarship. if they are such good friends, why didn't she know this before that minute?

reply

I know! Why didn't her friend tell her before she went and said all of that stuff???

reply

First of all, no one should get a bad grade in "Art" just because he or she can't draw. That's a God-given gift. But I think Eve may have confused "Art" with The Arts. She may not have realized that she would be cancelling music and drama. In this case she was very short-sighted and narrowly focused.

I like Eve she is my favorite

Tonight's episode was illustrative of how dumb the new Eve is. She's freezing in the cold, then Kristin gives her a job at the restaurant. Eve should have followed through with ROTC and done at least the minimum stint in the military, which would give her a huge advantage in getting a job. It would fund her education as well.

Hope they end the gap year arc soon.

reply

I don't know what the heck is happening with her anymore

reply

If she went through 4 years of JROTC(highschool) then she may or may not receive an ROTC college scholarship after graduation they go in as an officer and the next four years they are the property of the USA armed service...but it isnt easy to get the college ROTC Money

I have loved Eve, she was kind and focused and funny. she seems kind of mean now. she says nasty things to others and uses people. I wonder why they are having her character do this?
