Disappointing Ending

I didn't care for the ending. Granted the writers wanted to give a gritty true to life feel to the movie, and they attempted this by giving an ambigous ending, but the whole premise of the movie, at least I thought, was to show that no matter where one comes from, no matter the circumstance, you can change your life for the better. Xtra made such an effort to better his life, and in turn attempted to better the lives of his siblings and his son. He had vast potential, and the Hive showed him what he could do with that potential. I wasn't expecting an over the top happy ending, that would have watered down the movie, however, I would have preferred to at least see him graduate in the end rather than SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

have him standing out in the night surrouded by the 6/8 gang and their guns, fading to black without us knowing whether he lived or died.

I am in agreement. They could have done a much better job ending it. It kind of felt like watching it was a waste of time since there was no real conclusion.

That's some catch, that catch-22.

For me it was disappointing, it was a reminder that it is going to be a constant struggle, and if he truly wants it he is going to have to "REALLY WANT IT," no matter the obstacle, he will have to face it, that life is not something that has an endgame, it's the journey not the destination, just because he graduated doesn't mean everything is all good now, after saying that, this movie needs a sequel, but only if it is on the same par as this movie, I think what happens next needs it's own story, because it would be another story of his and his families life. I want to see how he battles those demons inside of him as he moves forward, but they will not go away, he was raised and engrained in it, it will always be a part of who he is, the real story is how will he fight it, and break the cycle, and start a new legacy.
