Why was Violet planted into the CIA as the mole?

I was just curious what the reason was for Violet to be planted as the mole in the CIA since I don't remember what the reason was. However it was rather shocking and deserving for that CIA director lady to die since she was a real bitch who was rather cruel to Becca.
