Damn Finale Cliffhanger

I've just finished the finale (AXN in Europe), and I wish they had cut the last two minutes...now 'Missing' can join the club of 'Cancelled Cliffhanger Shows'...unless some other network picks it up, apparently it has been doing rather well internationally...Canada maybe ?

Most likely, knowing what we know now, Becca had to do the same thing Michael did and fake her own death and disappear for work.

reply

We're never told what happened to Violet. I'd assume Becca didn't kill her. My guess is that Violet escaped from CIA custody and went after her.

reply

I agree with the Violet thing . . . or someone like her.
If she needed to go away, she wouldn't just disappear from her bloodstained car.
She knows that Michael, Paul, Giancarlo and even Dax will stop at nothing to find her. No matter what the danger.

reply

It's obvious what happened. The show is called "Missing". She was kidnapped and the 2nd season would have been the others looking for her instead of the kid.....to keep with the theme of the show. It would have been a bit ridiculous, but I guarantee that is where it was going.

I had really high hopes for the show and did view it all the way through, but was VERY disappointed. No offense to those who liked it, but I thought it was an absolutely horrendous show - the acting was atrocious, none of the actors pulled off the "spy" thing in the least, there were gaping plot holes everywhere, the stunt work was awful, especially early in the show, the writing was especially horrid - I thought everything was bad other than the cool locations and scenery. I surmised that the father was still alive, that Violet was evil, and that Carradine's character was the evil genius behind everything within the 1st-2nd episode. It was just so cliche and obvious.........

That said, I DO know how bad it sucks to have a show you enjoy canceled on a cliffhanger, so I feel for all of you that enjoyed it......

reply

yes, i wish they would have edited it after the show was cancelled so that we would have had a nice, one season arch with a solved and happy end.

reply

I agree! If the network knew it was going to cancel it today, why not edit the ending. They suck!

remember if you don't have anything nice to say ...you're probably an *beep*

I wish that the final scene would have been with the group with the hugging. I guess the cliffhanger with Rebecca getting kidnapped most likely by Violet was done in case the show was picked up for a 2nd season which sadly it wasn't. I wish another network would have picked up the series.

reply

yeah, I just watched it, I was already unhappy it was canceled, now even more so seeing that ending and knowing we'll never know what happened!

another *beep* ending thanks abc

What I thought of after seeing her missing from the car was when she first got into the car she seemed to be looking at someone sitting in the passenger seat and smiling at them.

reply

Wasn't there a vehicle beside her that opened their door as she sat in her car? I could have sworn there was. I do agree with others that the network should have cut the ending and just put it on the dvd as an extra.

reply

I really liked that show and hate that it was cancelled. It would not have cost the network much to delete the last scene. Unless they hope to sell it to another network. Fingers crossed.

They should've cut the scene and then, if it WAS picked up (say by another network), they could rewind to the full scene one week later where she got abducted. That way their asses are covered in either situation.

Giancarlo (sp?) took her. He's pissed that she might once again dump him for her hubby, especially after he took a bullet for her.

lol

And I completely disagree with the posted above that said all the negative things about the show. The acting was excellent, although Bean's "American" accent was a bit painful. :) I've really enjoyed this show, but yeah, if it was getting canceled, I'd have preferred they left off the cliffhanger. Kinda sick of buying DVD sets labeled "the complete series!" only to have them be an incomplete story. You don't buy a novel if the pages suddenly go blank halfway through, why do we let 'em get away with doing it to video?

reply

Great show and I'll just pretend the last minute never happened. I do think that if the show would have been extended to another season, it would have turned ridiculous. Now Becca missing? It was almost comedic.

reply

Why did Bean even HAVE TO have an American accent! ? He could have easily had his accent and still been a CIA guy. So silly. I agree that his accent was, um, not great.

reply

[deleted]

I didn't think his accent was that bad, it's just sounds weird coming out of his mouth. I think we're all so used to hearing Bean with his Northern accent that an American accent doesn't quite sound right.

reply

I agree 100%. With the way they introduce the cliffhanger, it would have taken very little time and resources to edit out the last couple minutes. They could have edited together a montage of happy moments with some pleasant music.

Considering the reviews this show was getting, was cancellation really that much of a surprise? They should have known the hammer was falling for weeks- and taken the time to edit something together.

At this point, every show on TV should shoot two season finale endings- just in case.

reply

I'm not too pissed about the cliffhanger, even though they usually make me rage. I'm just disappointed they cancelled the show. I actually like how they set up the second season; granted, I didn't think the show needed a missing person every season in order to work, but it was an interesting set up. Maybe it's a testament to how much I liked the show and wanted it to continue, but I just didn't want it to end with them hugging. They deserved the moment but it was too perfect for me. I totally get that some people hated the ending because they wanted closure, but I thought the show deserved something better than a wrapped-up-perfectly ending.

I liked the cliffhanger, especially when they played the "oh, she
switches on the car" card with some close shots of the ignition.

Ashley tries to make it work on other networks. Its independently
produced, so I could be possible to search for someone else.

reply

I think if they created this show as a mini-series and aired only 2 seasons (or 2 parts) it would have worked perfectly. So, hopefully, they make, say, a feature film to conclude the series as a whole because seeing Paul get some payback would be epic. Who DOESN'T want to see Sean *beep* Bean kick ASS!!!!!!!!!!!! Good show though

That's your fault for coming on a message board for a tv show that ended 8 months ago.

Hmm... funny. I just finished watching the show on german TV and they did end the show with them in Prague and Sean Bean saying to Oksana, "You got a family now" and I kinda thought, when Becca said, that she would get the car, 'of course, something will happen to her now' and was kinda disappointed that the show just ended without anything happening. So in a way, they did what you wanted for german viewers, but still did it clumsily. They should have just ended with them hugging in Istanbul.

I did like the show though and view it as a great miniseries.
