The torture scene
was pretty good - though a little rushed - but the "goth girl cutting" line was out of place.

shareI know she cut one finger, but I wonder how many she had to cut before Violet finally talked. I would talk as soon as she had the clipper on the one to stop her from doing it! She could tell she wasn't playing around..
shareI am curious as to how far Rebecca tortured Violet in order to get her to talk.
share>>I know she cut one finger, but I wonder how many she had to cut before Violet finally talked. <<
I think she crushed the finger joint. Using vice grips. Cannot even imagine how much that would hurt.
From what she said, should would break the finger joints first, then a bunch of other horrid stuff, and cutting last (as that would likely kill her after a bit).
Wow... I would be singing everything I knew way before they got around to crunching any body parts with a vice grip. :(
If it were me, I would have told her everything as soon as she started explaining what she was gonna do. I would have even taken her there. I am a big chicken, I know. Good thing I don't know any government secrets!

Ha ha. Me too. I would have been screaming for that CIA guy to come back in and give me the amunity deal as soon as Becca walked in the door.
shareHaha apparently I am the only one to feel this way...but I felt horrible for Violet! She is definitely my favorite character on the show, she's awesome. I was really hoping that Dax would burst into the room and stop Becca because of his love for Violet or something, even though I know their reationship wasn't very deep lol. I thought the torture scene was horrible...I loved Violet lol. Yeah, Yeah, I know I'm weird :)
shareBecca should have put Violet on the rack and tickled the information out of her.
shareI would have taken the blank slate, immunity. But she didn't.
Why? Because she wanted to "hurt" her by forcing her to torture.
The only game left for the twisted mind aggressiveness of
"Violet" was; that she tainted the "soul". If its assumed that
she really had to go bazookas on her, even with the electro
shocks, cuts and everything, the only thing that lets you not
talk is PURE HATE.
Its quite known in psychotherapy, that the one with the true
power is never the one who is inflicting pain. Its always the
one that lets it happen.
When she saw that she is up to it, it was the final game.
Quite twisted.
I wish the they were on HBO for about 30 min to have a real, full on torture scene, because that b*tch had that a long time coming. Then after Becca got her son's location out of V, she should have put on a 15-inch heel and put it through the broad's head.

OH! that would have been fabulous -- I hated Violet (and she got what she deserved!)
If there's any hope for this show to come back, on any network, i'm keeping my intact fingers crossed!
lol LOTRinger02, I felt exactly the same way. When Violet screamed after Becca broke her finger, I cringed, but also felt a sadistic wave of satisfaction. She really got hers in the end.
However I'm curious as to why the OP though the "goth girl cutting" line was inappropriate. I thought it was very effective in making Violet scared.
Seeking a superhero for the end of the world.
Actually, technically what Becca did explain in detail and did do to Violet was not torture. The true definition of torture is the pleasure of physical pain and the dismembering of someone to death. What Becca did to Violet was enhanced interrogation, which is used to get information but not to kill the person. Which Becca did say when she was describing the use of electricity - she said that it was not enough to kill her. I know from what I speak when it comes to torture.
shareIt was rather horrific especially the look on Violet's face as she was squirming in pain as Becca cut off her finger. I do wonder how far did she go in terms of torture before Violet finally confused since Becca looked rather upset and sad after the ordeal was done.
shareTorture is the practice or act of deliberately inflicting severe physical pain and possibly injury on a person, though psychological and animal torture also exist.
Whether torturer does it with pleasure or not is completely irrelevant. What Becca did was torture. "Enhanced interrogation" is merely an euphemism.
It doesn't really make sense for Violet to resist. As a trained agent, she should be well aware that if the other side holds no restraint, they can get almost anyone to talk.
And like Becca said, she is a mother who wants her son back. Her threat of torture is extremely credible given what she has already done in the series. So, given that you know that Becca is highly trained AND motivated, why would you want her to go through with it? It is just nuts.
It does: if you want to "taint" someones else's soul.

Er... That is kind of a silly reason though, isn't it? I mean, in comic books, the villain does try to corrupt the hero. But in typical mainstream movies and particularly for this tv series, it hardly seems like a credible motive.
shareCan you think about using half an hardware store on a human being, and when would you stop? Do you think, that all "field agents" of any three letter department can go on against a human for hours - and then pour a glass of wine, like its a job?
Or would it really, really mess 95% of them up if they are forced to do it? They even used this as an reasoning in season 7+8 of "24" why Jack Bauer is now so *beep*ed up.
You just need a serious sociopath to hold off so long. In the scene she was bound to a chair, in a dungeon, got knows where. Nothing to win, besides not getting killed or delivered to the authorities.
The ONLY move left is: you want it? Then think Abu Graib, search for the dark part of your soul. Then you get it. 95% of field agents would "call someone in" to do it, because they couldn't. Thats the reason those agencies have "enhanced interrogation experts", or simpler, counter-psychopaths.
Yes. When I achieved my objective. No, but this particular agent does seem to be exceptionally motivated as I explained earlier.
Probably not, since the self-selection effect would mean that they are more inclined than average.
