Last 20 odd minutes of the film...(Spoiler alert)

As the title suggests, the last 20 minutes of the film could've been left on the cutting room floor. The gig had ended, the mission to get into the gig had ended, why do we need another 20+ minutes of what can only be described as a depressing mess?

The film was at its peak while 'I am the resurrection' was playing and I felt it could've ended on a high with maybe some tongue-in-cheek style ending.

I think the film tried too hard to take itself serious in parts and should have been more of a comedy with the whole 90's feel to it, although I know it was only 1990.

Why not show more of the Manchester music scene, add a few more characters and go all out 'avin it!'.

Instead, the film seems to get confused with deeper issues and problems that don't add anything other than to bring the good vibe down.

Some good moments and a few laughs but hardly enough to warrant a second viewing, unless you fast forward through the crap bits.

The message is that music can bind your life and make you forget your life ills, if only for a short while. Unfortunately it's handled very heavily here, every one of the group (and Penfold) either have major issues at home or are blighted by hormonal worries or lack of intelligence. That's why the last 20 minutes had to happen, to bring the "angst" angle full circle.

The boys were shown at regular intervals going through hell at home, but music was their escape. Tits pretty much says this after they play the demo live (a great sequence). I'm on your side as regards it's not the film it could have been, but the narrative throughout was always leading us to a sort of life sucks and deal with it resolution.

I agree - the last 20 minutes are rubbish and detract from the film as a whole.
