Shaking my head...

I read such great things about this movie and at the end when he rode off down the street, I just shook my head. Are you kidding me with this? After anything I watch I ask myself, was I entertained? This is a flat-out no. A few things, does this kid have any other clothes or anyone else for that matter? I can't believe he wasn't hit by a car with all of his running and biking around. Thank God I didn't buy this movie.

Dunno why you're shaking your head, as Luno was dead right in his commentary. It was a stupid movie. Why didn't the kid ever learn to get a bike lock, for example? That was only one of the many flaws.

This was the kind of movie that was more compelling to watch than enjoyable. From the first moments through the end of the movie, I wanted to both hug and reassure him -- and slap him silly. The fascination of the movie was about us being able to get inside the head of a fatherless (and motherless) boy and understand what many difficult kids are feeling and why they act so incomprehensible at times.

All in all, I didn't want to call it a movie I enjoyed, because it was so frustrating -- but it was an incredible view into one boy's world.

Certainly the title guides our minds toward Disney-esque plot lines. I wonder if that's what caused a number of people to not "get" the movie.

What I got from the movie was that this little scrote was allowed to get away with blue murder without any punishment of any kind. The tree incident near the end was the director's way of ensuring he got his comeuppance in the end. I was fully behind the son who refused to accept his apology, although he shouldn't have thrown stones at him.
