tanta mierda

Long, dull, trivial. Yet another Latin American movie with 20 minutes of story and a whole lot of filler. Why do critics keep praising this nonsense when there are great, visceral, visionary films being made? Films with something to say, not something to hide.

Before someone comes along and says I should go back to watching Transformer movies (as if there were nothing in between Hollywood fluff and pretentious minimalism), here is my list of the best Latin American movies of the past five years. Check out some of these great films:

La jaula de oro / The Golden Dream (Mexico, 2013)
Los viajes del viento / Wind Journeys (Colombia, 2009)
Hermano / Brother (Venezuela, 2010)
Tambien la lluvia / Even the Rain (Bolivia, 2010)
Zona Sur / Southern District (Bolivia, 2009)
Yvy Maraey: Tierra sin mal / Land Without Evil (Bolivia, 2013)
La teta asustada / The Milk of Sorrow (Peru, 2009)
El secreto de sus ojos / The Secret in their Eyes(Argentina, 2009)
Alamar (2009, Mexico)
Pelo malo (2013, Venezuela)
El cuarto de Leo / Leo's Room (Uruguay, 2009)
