Just finished AMERICAN JUSTICE - The Pam Smart story, from 1996 !!!!
Pretty well snowed in here so I'm cruising channels and this pops up. So, I took a look. It was interesting because it represented a fresher take on what had happened. Meaning the program was put together just 5 years after the incident itself. There was an interview with Pamela. SHe looked a lot younger and a lot fresher than she does in Captivated. The girl had two problems - first of all she was guilty, and second of all, she just doesn't come across well. I have to say though - at the risk of the backlash Im sure Ill get - I feel sorry for her. I learned she was actually placed behind bars Aug. 1 of 1990. SO, she is coming up on 25 years behind bars. The girl has lost her youth, her looks, everything. I cant understand how someone would wish it upon her to continue to rot behind bars. FOr doing what? Manipulating some complete moron to kill her husband. IM male and can remember being 17 years old and absolutely nuts over a girl that didn't feel the same way about me. However, if she said "Todd, you can have me, you just have to kill my boyfriend" - I would have RUN in the other direction. Unfortunately for Pam it turned out that idiot Bill Flynn actually had it in him to kill someone. Then, probably even more unfortunate for Pam, he turned out to be a pretty good actor. Pam just does not come off well. Not to mention she couldn't have possibly played the chess game of legal maneuvering any worse. So, I feel and will continue to feel sorry for her. Yeah, she did some incredibly stupid things in her early 20s - as all of us who lived thru that time in our lives did. I'm telling everyone that Pamela Smart is not a bad apple. I think at this point shes probably a bit out of her mind but not a bad apple - just a girl that made a dreadful mistake before she knew anything about this world and how it works. As always, Im interested in other opinions.
