Just finished AMERICAN JUSTICE - The Pam Smart story, from 1996 !!!!

Pretty well snowed in here so I'm cruising channels and this pops up. So, I took a look. It was interesting because it represented a fresher take on what had happened. Meaning the program was put together just 5 years after the incident itself. There was an interview with Pamela. SHe looked a lot younger and a lot fresher than she does in Captivated. The girl had two problems - first of all she was guilty, and second of all, she just doesn't come across well. I have to say though - at the risk of the backlash Im sure Ill get - I feel sorry for her. I learned she was actually placed behind bars Aug. 1 of 1990. SO, she is coming up on 25 years behind bars. The girl has lost her youth, her looks, everything. I cant understand how someone would wish it upon her to continue to rot behind bars. FOr doing what? Manipulating some complete moron to kill her husband. IM male and can remember being 17 years old and absolutely nuts over a girl that didn't feel the same way about me. However, if she said "Todd, you can have me, you just have to kill my boyfriend" - I would have RUN in the other direction. Unfortunately for Pam it turned out that idiot Bill Flynn actually had it in him to kill someone. Then, probably even more unfortunate for Pam, he turned out to be a pretty good actor. Pam just does not come off well. Not to mention she couldn't have possibly played the chess game of legal maneuvering any worse. So, I feel and will continue to feel sorry for her. Yeah, she did some incredibly stupid things in her early 20s - as all of us who lived thru that time in our lives did. I'm telling everyone that Pamela Smart is not a bad apple. I think at this point shes probably a bit out of her mind but not a bad apple - just a girl that made a dreadful mistake before she knew anything about this world and how it works. As always, Im interested in other opinions.

A mistake that caused a family to lose a son and brother. Manipulating someone to do something is what got Charles Manson locked up too. - no I'm not saying she is like him , just that the manipulation of other people is the same . So don't jump on me 😉 I don't think she will ever be released , only the gov' can pardon her now and she said to me herself that it will never happen. She is pretty much resigned to the fact that she will die behind bars. She does see her family's every month or so and they have trailer visits where they BBQ and hang out for a full weekend. She told me this herself when she last wrote to me .
She gets to see her family the smarts get to visit a grave site.

I used to think just like you do , something she said changed my mind

I was waiting for my hearse what came next was so much worse

Did that something she said lead you to believe she'd be a danger to society if let out?
