I also thought of Coming to America, especially in the first scene, but I don't see Eddie as a superhero.

Intentional "Coming to America" callback there - I don't know that Eddie Murphy would've been a good T'Challa, but Chadwick Boseman would make a hilarious Prince Akeem right now

He is a comedic actor all the way through. He would have been hard to take seriously in such a role.

Yeah, Murphy is a comic actor, and he'd probably want some comedy in his version of "Black Panther". Which might have worked, most Marvel films have touches of hilarity, but I don't think BP would work as a funny superhero.

Certainly this film didn't need much humor, at its heart it's about dealing with loss.
