Uh Oh!! Muslims get a chance to watch BP in Saudi Arabia!

In a limited and first time run in Saudi Arabia for Western films BP will get an itty bitty Box office bump.

“Black Panther” is set to break Saudi Arabia’s 35-year cinema ban.
Disney and its Middle East distribution partner, Italia Film, will be releasing the Marvel superhero blockbuster April 18 in a new AMC-branded movie theater in Riyadh with a gala premiere, an Italia Film spokesman said.

The “Black Panther” bow will mark the first screening of a film release in the kingdom since movie theaters were banned in the early 1980s, after Saudi Arabia adopted ultraconservative religious standards in 1979. Removal of the ban, announced last December, is part of a drive by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to transform Saudi society.

“Black Panther” will inaugurate the new Saudi era in a luxurious cinema in a building originally intended to be a symphony concert hall. The facility, in Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District, has more than 600 leather seats, on orchestra and balcony levels, and marble bathrooms.

Just read a few articles about this. My reaction: WOW

BP has gone far beyond what is seen as “crowd-pleasing”.

Getting into Saudi Arabia was luck and great timing. The interesting thing is the exporting of "Americanism" through this film and how it will be perceived by the Saudis. Black Panther/Wakanda as a monarchy has similarities to Saudi Arabia so the politics are very striking.

Women must be accompanied by husband or male relative!

That's it. I'm fetching my newspaper and going there.
I just might never leave the stall.

Countdown to Riyadh opening. I wonder how ludicrously luxurious those theaters are in Riyadh?

I would imagine they individually pop each kernel of corn in a genie bottle filled with the finest and rarest of truffle oils.
For an extra buck and a personal touch, each popped kernel can be monogramed with your initials.
It's the little touches that make a truly great theater shine forth like a diamond in the rough.

It doesn't need repeating, but I'll do it anyway.

Islam is one fucked-up religion.
