What you asked for actually happened both in the film and on the soundtrack. Kudos to that team.
With that said only 1 Grammy for Kendrick out of 8 nominations and I think it's safe that all those who are worried about the industry just giving awards to BP like it's a participation trophy, well they can calm down.

I’m a little indifferent. Lamar’s lyrical content and his music are second to none. His voice on the other hand (when he uses auto-tune anyway) doesn’t make the impact it should. That said, his vocals can be raw sounding and demanding. And musically, his sounds can take many twists and turns (first album). What “concerns” with a little, is this song with SZA. I hope the rest of the soundtrack doesn’t turn out too clean sounding. That aside, I gotta say I’m digging the hip hop music in the clips and trailers. There’s even some pleasing tribal sounds heard in these tracks. So yes, I will happily give the soundtrack a chance. I do wonder what Run the Jewels might’ve brought to the table though.
In any event, I’m sure Lamar is only doing a soundtrack separate from the movie. The film score itself? I’m betting it will feature feature African-influenced music and more traditional film score sounds. Songs from the soundtrack might be heard in the film, but I doubt they will be the driving force if you will. So come what may, my excitement level for Black Panther keeps growing with every new clip that comes out!
Update: after listening to the soundtrack and giving Lamar’s other works more of a listen, I have to say I’m sold! Not every song on the soundtrack is great to my ears, but the whole thing is a fitting, strong, and incredibly produced soundtrack. All the songs that were played in the movie also sounded perfect. Oh, and “All the Stars” with Lamar & SZA has grown on me so much. I can’t get it out of my head!
It looks like the old gang is back for a repeat. The teaser for Wakanda Forever is almost like a little movie with the music just being done so expertly and fitting so perfectly in the narrative.
