Did anyone else hate the character of Tom?

He annoyed me to no end. I know he was supposed to be the likable protagonist, but I found him to be a pushy jerk with a super-inflated ego who was totally dismissive of any ideas other than his own. I also didn't understand his utter obsession with Ivy. He was constantly pushing for her to be Marilyn and bitching about it when anyone else was cast. I kept waiting for one of the other characters, like Derek, to call him out on it and ask him why his head was so far up Ivy's rear end...

I don't think he was. First of all, KAREN and IVY are the protagonists. Second, none of the characters was written to be 100% likeable; they all had flaws. But TOM started to become a real jerk in season 2, specially with the GATSBY fight. I'm not taking JULIA's side, but it's the way he handled things.

I'm rewatching the series, and by season two, I find Tom (the character) unlikeable, only second to Jimmy.
