... but why would we WANT an artificially intelligent robot?! My computer already hates me as it is, without giving it the ability to ignore anything I tell it to do, whenever it feels like it. As soon as we create an artificial intelligence that has the potential to be smarter than us - meaning that we can't effectively control it - then humanity is toast. We have two options; be wiped out completely, or end up as slaves. No autonomous intelligence is going to be happy taking instruction from something lower down the pecking order than it is... not when it doesn't have to.
Sure, Jackman's Vincent is a jerk, because he just wants to take credit for his OWN machines... but if you leave that aside, he has a point that the movie either intentionally or mistakenly ignores, for some weird reason: You need a human behind anything of this nature, otherwise it becomes like turkeys voting for Christmas...
