Gripes I have with the new Annie

1. The dog looks completely different.

2. They changed Molly's name to Mia. It's not like Molly isn't still a common name for a child.

3. They did not include one orphan (Duffy).

4. They changed the name Kate to Isabella. Kate is also fairly common still. Why not just turn it into Katie or something. I mean they kept the name Pepper. Seriously They changed Molly and Kate but kept Pepper?

Otherwise I liked it. It was cute.

my gripes go a little deeper. I got about 40 minutes into and turned it off, it wasn't worth the bandwidth to finish it.

1. the character's actions made NO SENSE and had no relation to each other. They kept doing things that weren't explained or tried to be funny and it fell flat.

2. The storytelling/plotline is TERRIBLE. Things that were completely out of the blue such as the Social Security thing.

3. Annie likes talk radio? Since when???

4. The hand sanitizer thing (they are either drinking or snorting it, I don't know which)

5. This Annie is a real smarta$$.

6. Obsession with selfies

You got further than I did. However, I am currently rewatching it but it's still boring the hell out of me. It's not the acting, it's the script and direction.

We had a great time watching it with an open mind. I still love viewing our copy of this film.

You can watch it with an open mind and still have gripes with it. It wasn't a bad film but ^ points were legit. I thought she was a little bit too smart mouthed for her own good and that is not an overall good image of the perceptions of the youth of today. The open mindedness lost me within the first scene where red haired annie is mocked. It's not the worst film but it's certainly not the best.

1. The dog looks completely different

The dog? Think it's far worse that the title character looks completely different (unnecessarily so) after 30,000 comic strips.

Complete disregard/disrespect of the source material and the icon's famed image.

This was a hijacking. It wasn't Annie, and that's why it failed at the box office.

My Main Gripe was the Hair

Annie is suppose to be a Redhead not black hair.it what made it an iconic role.
if i were to ask you to name a musical about an orphan with black hair would you guess Annie

I think the 1999 version was just as off with the image of Annie, if not more. For me the curly messy almost afro-like hair is the picture of Annie. In the 1999 version Annie had short straight reddish hair but definitely not bright red like the original. Either way, gripes aside, I thought all three Annie movies were great.

What I find is bothering me the most right now is the song insertions. They don't make sense and they also seem shorter than the originals.

7. Getting rid of Hannigin's alcoholism. It's what made Burnett's performance so dark and creepy. This Hannigan was just depressed.

8. Unnecessary changes to the lyrics in the songs, "give her a Mickey Finn" changed to "Send her to the looney bin." Why??

9. The house was way too nice to sympathize with Annie and the foster kids struggles. These kids had nice things. The depression-era 1982 Annie made you feel like their place was a real hell-hole.

10. The techno-pop updates to the music.
