Where the hell is mason???

Watching season 1 and where the hell is kourtney and Scott's son, mason??
I think it's shown him for less than a minute in one of the first episodes.
I know he is in New York with them, but obviously he is stashed somewhere or staying elsewhere cos they go out and do stuff and never have him with them.
Is that what celebrities do? Palm off their kids?
