will forte's acting was terrible

everyone was pretty good in this movie, but will forte, man did he struggle. He really took me out of the story several times.

He had good moments and awkward moments, imo.

He was so subdued...just like his father. He just kept plodding along...just like his father.

I liked the movie, and the casting. I like movies that make you pay attention, listen, and observe. So many movies now are huge visual affairs, with a lot of action and noise. This one you had to be still, and view with a more subtle ear.

It was a coming of middle age movie. I loved it. Seeing your parents as real people is a good thing. Seeing those parts of them you've never known about makes you grow.

That's the thing. George Clooney was very subdued in The Descendants as well, and people complained about that role too. Ya gotta think that that's just how the character is written/the actor is directed. I like characters like that, personally. They feel more relatable to me.

I thought that Forte came off as a really nice guy in this movie, with a lot of patience and understanding. I didn't have a problem with his acting at all. I liked him a lot in this, and I think this is the first thing I've really ever seen him in.

Cynicism is easy.

he sure likes to sigh. 

I am from the UK so I do not watch American TV. I had never heard of him. Looking at his movie CV it appears he has mostly appeared in dire crap.

I thought he was just great and perfectly cast. Nice to see a new (to me) face in a major role for a change. Same applies to June Squibb, another new name to me. She stole every scene.

I thought he did a great job. It was a subtle and subdued character, and he played it fantastically.

He was actually okay for this role. And did an okay job. The struggle made it more realistic.

Forte's character was supposed to be very boring and basic in his existence, his whole life just putting one foot in front of the other. That's just how he was. I thought Forte did a fantastic job conveying that.

reply

I think it would have been interesting if he and Bob Oedenkirk switched parts.
