This is depressing...I'll miss you guys!!

I still can't believe the boards are going away. I even googled the crap out of IMDb to see if it was some sort of joke. Talk about a few bad apples spoiling the bunch. I guess the overly aggressive, rude and flat out obnoxious posts of some trolls have made the IMDb powers that be feel the boards promote negativity.

Too bad they don't see the respectful, funny and intelligent coversations and debates that also take place. ?

reply

I'm sad too. I love commenting on my favorite shows and when I'm having a bad day, coming on here to read the funny things people comment makes me feel better. Seems like some people may migrate to the reddit page. Is there any other places to go?

reply

I'm sad! Every time I watch a movie I come to the boards to see what others have to say about it. And I check up on my shows as soon as I watch them. Very sad :(

reply

I do the same. Sad and depressing.

reply

I do the same thing :-(

reply

I am the exact same way!!!

reply

Yes I come here after watching any show to find out more. It is so sad I too thought it was a joke at first. Is there a petition to keep the Boards up?
And I wonder from a business point IMDb will be losing so many people to the site and just giving them away to there competitors! Seems so the wrong move?!

reply

Ther is petition. It's posted sum wher on this board.

u idiot
b*tch u kno wat tha *beep* im talkn bout

P.s. I like cheese ~sincerely confused~

reply

I can't get it to link but here it is, the petition site. There's also themoviedb.org (the movie data base) and the other site that the poet or poesist user has posted about.

Me too!!!!! I just got internet access today after 6 mom without it. Sooooo sad :(

Well... sometimes I have the feeling I can do crystal meth, but then I think, mmm better not.

reply

I am so bummed! Yeah, a few trolls can sully things. A few years ago, trolls came here. I think it's why water_bug left, Sempor barely returned and for just a short time, and I had to retire my old username that was since 2001. (Because one troll would bump old threads of mine even after I was staying away 'til things died down.) At least one long member--who hasn't posted in a long while--blamed Sempor and I for the drama of one crazy troll and blocked us, including my current handle.

Even with it all of that, I'd NEVER want the boards to go. I dusted myself off, and with a new name, returned with no problems. It's like a community on this board and other regular ones I frequent. It's like an end of an era. I'll never love SM for chatting about film and tv. It's just not the same.

reply

Ahh I remember all that. I miss water bug and a lot of the old gang (nmbv, geeks, tchele, tracy...). It's going to be a big change not checking the boards every day.

reply

(Just realized I misspelled Semper's name... twice. Duh!) Yeah, I miss all those members you named. Now I'm going to miss all of you who continue to post here! Wish IMDb would reconsider, but I figure it's a done deal. :(

Waterbug bailed over 4th of July weekend in like 2014 or 2015. The reporting wars got to her and she had enough. Nmbv rl got in the way when her kids were born.

I'd say life got in the way for me too. I moved back to Texas in August 2016. Ironic since I said I would never set foot here again lol. We moved for a myriad of reasons, not the least of my daughter is a Freshman in high school. She loves her new school, and while it hasn't been the easiest move for me it's worth it that she's doing awesome.

It's hard to believe these will be gone. As my daughter pointed out my affiliation with these boards predates her lol.

Well... sometimes I have the feeling I can do crystal meth, but then I think, mmm better not.

reply

Yeah, you're one of the few menbers I ever see who has been here longer than my original account! Yeah, *beep* was at its peak 2014 4th of July weekend. I almost ledt for good, but I couldn't, and with this account since Huly 2014, things have been fine. Until this week!

LetsDrive is so right that SM like FB doesn't allow for a community and really interacting with posters like IMDb. This is all a gigantic bummer. If IMDb ever reinstates them, I'll come back. I always thought I'd post here years later when there'd be updates on the cast, even after the show ends.'Mostly to pop in and see anyone who stuck around. That dream is all but done.

(This month blows so far. First IMDb boards closing then the superbowl upset. Waaay too much snow in my area, liquid diet coming up... complain, complain, complain, lol.)

reply

I'm not on Facebook and I value my privacy too much to join. I like that these boards foster more of a community and people get to know each other and you even "bump into" familiar posters on other boards all over the site. You lose that with social media because you basically just comment on the show instead of having different topics and conversations.

I also like that you can talk about older shows and there are others who are still there for the nostalgia and to discuss episodes. The Roseanne and Golden Girls boards are hoppin'! lol

My life has changed too and I'm a new mom, but I still like to pop in and see what everyone is talking about. What am I going to do now when I'm breastfeeding at all hours? Haha

reply

Absolutely. I've considered returning to sitcomsonline.com because it has specific sitcom boards as well as many dramas, and general chatting subjects. However, as far as I know, there are not specific reality show boards. The other IMDb forum's page also lacks many specific pages.

i don't care for Facebook's setup either, including the lack of anonymity. I have a page purely for staying in touch with some people, but I've been deactivated for years due to disinterest in all it has to offer. Even though I use Twitter (and without my real name), it is hardly the place for discussions. 140 characters puts a real damper on that! It also lacks the community atmosphere. I look forward to checking out IMDb pretty much daily, whether I post about films, scripted shows--old and new--and reality tv.

You and I post on several common boards. I was actually looking forward to returning to the "Born This Way" board when the new season starts.

Balls to the whole situation!

reply

I love Born This Way! My issue is, I watch a lot of garbage tv (like Teen Mom) but I don't have anyone to discuss it with in real life so I come to the boards.

I think we all did. Half the shows I watch, I would not admit to in public. You feel an instant kinship when you find other people are watching too. I watched My Strange Addiction where a woman was addicted to eating her couch for Christ sake :) Some shows are like car accidents, you can't help but to rubber neck and want to know what other's thought.

reply

I saw that show too, was that the same person who also ate her mattress? lol. I also watch "My Crazy Ex" and can't talk to people about the episode where a woman's boyfriend bought a ventriloquist dummy and he used it to make rude comments to everyone and one day she left work early and caught him having sex with the dummy. I mean, who can I discuss that with who won't judge me?! lol

reply

Yes! You and JJandS are so right. Who in my personal life am I going to regularly talk to about the reality tv I watch?! My younger sister outgrew this franchise a while ago, lol. Even when I can chat about one or two common shows among people in my life, it's so much better with a group of people and multiple insights. Even when that can be achieved on Reddit, you'll never recognize posters the way it's done here.

I think I'll return to sitcomsonline for at least some scripted-tv talk. I'm assuming the site is still popular, but maybe it's not. Even so, nothing will be like IMDb. *sob*

reply

The more I think about it the more sad it's making me. I know it sounds over the top but these boards have brought me so much joy! I always get a little flutter of excitement when I go to check them after a new episode has aired.

Well I have to say, this was pretty surreal. I saw that the message boards were going away and I thought, "I should go see who is still around the Teen Mom 2 board," and here you are!

It's weird seeing this, so I thought I'd chime in one last time while I can, although I could not reclaim my old username. I can't chime in properly, though, since I haven't watched the show in as long as I haven't been posting here. I was just recently thinking about it, wondering what might have been going on with those girls, but a little glad that I didn't actually know (curse google, though--curiosity and google are a dangerous mix). I got as far as Kailyn is divorced and went "Not shocked!" and that was all it took for me to remember why I quit watching the show.

I do miss the friends I made while I was here, though.

Universally speaking, I win in the long run.

reply

I haven't watched in ages either I don't have cable and until a few days ago no internet. I come around for the friends, and I will probably follow the group once it's decided where. Looks like there are 3 prospects.

Well... sometimes I have the feeling I can do crystal meth, but then I think, mmm better not.

reply

It's kind of fun to see what's changed and what hasn't around here. I don't think I'll follow the group, but I'm exploring the world of tumblr now, so maybe I'll bump into a few folks there. I've been thinking of blogging just as a way to do some more writing and maybe be a little more social, and I read that tumblr was the best place for a free blog. Now I'm feeling like not so much, but maybe I just don't understand it yet.

Universally speaking, I win in the long run.

reply

Hey water bug! I hope all has been good with you! I use blogger and find it a lot easier than tumblr.

The only thing constant in life is change

reply

Hey lady! How've you been? How's the fam?

I will check out blogger. I think I might actually have one already from when I was in college; I think we had to have one for a class on education technology. I wonder how long a blog can be inactive before it's archived or something...

Universally speaking, I win in the long run.

reply

I refuse to use tumblr cause it's spelled wrong lol.

I have a blogger account somewhere.... I have good intentions, but life gets in the way. I'm trying to appreciate the small moments these days. I'll probably find out where the group is going but probably lurk. I don't know.

Well... sometimes I have the feeling I can do crystal meth, but then I think, mmm better not.

reply

WHAT?!?!? The message boards are going away??? When? I came here to talk about Kailyn's bitch ass. I'm about to go look this up. I can't take this.

EDIT: OK, I saw the note up above. What the heck? I'm actually really upset. I've been posting on IMDb for a really long time. Where else am I supposed to turn when I'm being a total TV nerd?!

You think I'd speak for you? I don't even know your language.

reply

You can go to Previously Tv, they have Teen Mom forums over there & Yeah Kailyn is very much hated there too!!

reply

Thank you! 

My friend thinks the real reason for the removal of the message boards is because they aren't making any money off them. I think that might be part of it... also because it costs them money to monitor the boards.

reply

I'm more of a lurker and don't really post all that much but I do love to come here and read comments about my favorite tv shows and movies I watch. I have read on other Teen Mom threads that a lot of people from here are going to start using the message boards on this site: https://www.themoviedb.org/
