No Show in the next season

Please say A gifted Man will be back next season. I love this show!! Beautifully acted and just wonderful!!

reply

Its got one thing going against it - I like it. All the shows I like get cancelled.

reply

It will probably disappear without a "Fan Outcry" for renewal -- I never understood if a series with a Title Character such as a young, independently wealthy New Yorker who is also quite unaware of the risks he is putting himself in fits the present-day TV ratings blockbusters. My sense is that there are TOO many cliffhanger aspects for the show's Network Funding Producers to proceed ahead with some sense of coming back in Fall of 2012 with some but not all of the original cast.

reply

I love this show! I hope it gets renewed for a second season.

reply

i love this show, its different and Patrick Wilson is amazing. I also love the storylines -- all the characters on the show. House M.D. another show I love will be ending soon - which was a last minute decision. I also like Grey's Anatomy but i think it will end next year, bc the main character Ellen Pompero and Patrick Dempsey both want out...There aren't many good medical shows left so they need to give this show another season.

reply

I'm with you. Still grieving over this show and Forever...

reply

I hope this show returns next season. I loved tonight's episode. So sad for the girl to die just as she got a heart transplant from Anna.

reply

i know it was very sad, the girl (Tammy Blanchard the actress who played her is such a great actress) dying w/Anna's heart. I was hoping Holt would've seen Anna right before he went into that room to help that guy who walked into the clinic. Damn I so hope this show is coming back -- bc tonite's episode could go either way, bc of the way it ended...i am hoping for the BEST!

reply

What would be the best for Michael, though--for Anna to come back, or for him to be ready to continue his life without her showing up to be his conscience?

reply

They painted themselves in a corner with this story. The show is based on her being his conscience and it will be different moving it to love triangle with Michael and I think her name is Kate. by the way just what does the husband need to do to show her he loves her. He says he wants to be a family, gets her a high paying job, seems like they put the cart before the hoarse with him if it was something wrong with him they should show it but the writing makes it look like she is jerking him around. Not to mention she did not go home for four nights.

reply

i hear what you saying - i get the feeling that kate has fallen out of love w/her husband, and it happened before michael and she kissed. its like deep down she really doesn't want to be w/her husband anymore. sometimes ppl grow apart and i think kate is the one who really doesn't want to be w/him and/or work on their marriage. when michael asked her do you want to that (work on your marriage? she gave him this look like (her facial expression made me think this)- no and she didn't leave w/her hubby to go home she stayed at the clinic. kinda feel bad for her hubby but i will admit i do like the idea of kate/michael together.

reply

I would also mention he decided to stay the course with her and most importantly give up his dream job to try and make it work if she is not committed that would be an ultimate betrayal. She should have said yes to Michael when he asked her was that what she wanted [and in my opinion should have gotten a more definative answer as he is a man who knows that is not the right thing to string him along.] but of respect for that part of her husband alone. I lost a little of the luster I had for her as I feel she is not as good a person as i gave her credit for.

reply

I just logged on to this site, when there was no
show on 9 March 2012.

So...CBS did not re-new for more episodes ? Thank you.

reply

There was no new episode because the first season ended last Friday. We have not yet been told if there is going to be a season 2.

See if you're still so relaxed when your eyeballs bleed.

reply

But Harrison finding that "better" job for her in NYC (a couple of episodes ago) and then arranging that job for her in Houston just kind of exhibits how little he knows about his wife. It's THIS JOB that means everything to her. It's not about money or prestige for her the way it is for him. He clearly doesn't get that about his wife, and that's a major thing for him to miss.

As for the kids thing, that came completely out of the blue. A few episodes he was touting their decision not to have kids. If I were Kate, I'd be skeptical of this out-of-nowhere declaration that he suddenly wants children.

Kate is realizing that her husband doesn't really understand her. And she needs to decide what, if anything, to do about it.

reply

I understand your point but you are looking at it through Kates eyes he has done every thing he can to prove his love and instead of talking to her husband she stays away for four nights and seems to be cold and indiferent to him he is at least trying to spend more time with her as best he can. It is not about the job being so important to him it is him doing every thing he can to make bring him closer to his wife.

reply

Even for a Friday Night show, where rating expectations are lower, this show just didn't get enough viewers, overall and in the key demographic age-groups.

Be grateful that not only did CBS run the original ordered 13 episodes, but ordered 3 more as well.

More than any other network, CBS gives series a chance unless rating are REALLY BAD, as with "How to Be A Gentlemen" which was pulled, moved to Saturdays and then pulled after one episode aired - and they "ate" the 6 or so unaired episodes.

reply

Well, from a woman's point of view, getting her pregnant, moving her hundreds of miles from a job and place she loves, picking her new job for her and sending HER resume out without even asking her first....that's not love, that's CONTROLLING.
Don't even get started about him meeting with a Divorce attorney to discuss his "options" BEFORE he even tells her he has a problem at all?? Lets call that Sneaky, Conniving AND Controlling. Also...his complaints about her not having time for "them" is baloney. HE travels away from home, she just works long hours, which HE does too! However, he is AWAY for periods of time and not even available yet he blames HER job for them not having enough time together? ...again a CONTROLLING personality. Kate should be with a man who respects her hard work ethic, dedication, intelligence and other traits plus treats her as an equal NOT arm candy.

reply

OK, we get it, you don't like the guy, For you, it's Kate and Mike all the way. I feel you are piling up on the guy, making him out to be something some viewers feel he may not be, certainly not to the degree you are saying, but on theses boards one can say anything they wish to. I just felt the husband gave it his all.

reply

My Comments were purely my own individual opinion, as such I was speaking for myself and my own perspective as a woman. I in no way intimated that I was speaking for anyone else. I would love to know what authorizes you to speak for "some" viewers? (hinting at plural numbers) Your own opinion I would welcome in any discussion but I just don't see how you can call upon a group of unknown viewers to validate your own opinion over mine. Kind of cheating when you can make up your own support group. I have not belittled any "Real" person as my comments where about a specific character and my opinion on his possible motivations. Taking my comments just a tad personally it seems?

reply

I don't really get what your aiming at, we both made opinions weather they were our own or opinions we/I feel others may have shared. And let me assure you i did not take your opinion personally, I actually felt you may have been a bit thin skinned, but Just as you are wrong about your last comment, I would bet I am also wrong about you being thin skinned. I actually went back and watched some of the episodes, and I get what you are saying, but i still feel you may have been piling on the guy, but I guess we will differ on this subject.

reply

Basing an opinion of a real person on a few comments is never right. I posed my question, about you taking my comments a tad personally, as a question because I'm not at all willing to assume it as a fact. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. I could very well be wrong, too. Opinions are exactly that, just an opinion and not a fact. I didn't write the character so I can't definitively say he is one "type" or another. Same token neither can anyone else. That's why its simply an opinion. Nice chat......

reply

Wow, Well, I know really like you, No harm No foul.

reply

There are always other organs taken to keep her alive, and the story going.

reply

This husband can't manage to stay at home for his wife so do tell how he will manage to stay home if they had children? He WON'T! He treats her as well as her job as if it's not as important as his job, which leaves him as nothing more than a narcissistic, uncaring, jerk along with being an ego-manic with no feelings whatsoever as to what HIS WIFE WANTS IN LIFE! She should've kicked his a%% to the curb a long time ago!

There's no painting this story into a corner. Anna could have simply slipped away once Michael finds happiness that becomes love, esp if written in a manner where he doesn't realize his happiness has become love - given the fact most men don't know the difference, leaving the amazingly few - wonderful gems who don't come around every day!

It's a shame this series must have ended because I thoroughly enjoyed it, esp when Anna calls Michael out on his own BS... LOL!

Well, keep in mind you are a woman so you can't understand the man's point of view. Why men are capable of understand women is something the related fields will have to explain to you as I can't.

You say men don't know the difference between happiness and love just shows women have not made the progress they like to feel they have. Ask your husband and see if I'm right or not.

Now, the above is how your post comes across, just in other words. I hope you have grown.

Go to www.cbs.com, click on Feedback, and send them an email. I have sent numerous emails in hopes CBS will pay attention. Maybe if they get enough emails they will renew it. As well, I feel like it is always the good shows (and ones I like) that get canceled. Email CBS!

Thanks, jpuffenb! I just sent an email. My mother and I love this show.

reply

It's excellent! One of these shows that makes me laugh and cry =P A bit like the Ellen Degeneres show except with various lovely people in a medical theme.

reply

I had hoped for more from the "ghost wife" aspect, and not just another episode of "House".
They had a chance to be different, and blew it...
(Still like it, but could have been better)

reply

You can blame the suits at CBS for that. If you watch the pilot, you'll notice a HUGE change in focus and tone from it to the following episodes. This is because once CBS picked up the show, they hired Neal Baer as executive producer, and told him to turn it into a medical procedural show (after years on ER and SVU, procedurals are his strong suit). At the summer press event for the show last year they said as much.

So you went from a show about a by-the-book uber-logical doctor rocked to his core by the appearance of his dead wife (and trying deal with his loopy sister and her troubled kid) to a medical-case-of-the-week show, where the dead wife pops in from time to time just to impart some wisdom or insight. Julie Benz (who played the sister) was originally a regular on the series, indicating that Michael's family life was originally intended to be a strong focus, but then when that changed, she got her contract changed to guest star status in the episodes in which she appeared, so she would be free to seek other work. And her character's son Milo completely disappeared.

I even question how much Clinica Sananda was going to figure in the original incarnation of the show. Remember, Rachelle Lefevre wasn't brought in as a regular until episode 3. In the original show envisioned by Susannah Grant, was Dr. Holt always intended to become heavily involved in Anna's clinic? Guess we'll never know.

Can't help wondering a lot about this show--especially what was it SUPPOSED to be like before CBS meddled with it. We'll never know that, either.

reply

Totally agree. Too good for US networks - well written well acted and leaves you feeling good. They're bound to axe it!!

reply

This show has been canceled. I liked this show. Me, my mom and step father watched it every week. At first they had him see his dead girlfriend. Every episode there she was. Then she kind of went away. I could not figure out what kind of show they wanted to be. Some kind of supernatural show with a message or a medical show with the struggles of life.

My family and I really like The Firm as well. But it started to get stupid. It was harder to believe it was based in reality. I mean, how could these people find all of the things they were? I know the one guy was a private eye, but come on. They were going against trained killers and EVERY time they just got away. It started to get stupid. Plus, how long can they play off of the story, man finds something and has to find more evidence before those who are wrong kill him? EVERY week it started to be the same thing. Then his wife started doing stuff with the people he worked as a lawyer for. Just got kind of crazy.

I liked these shows and would watch more of them, but I think they are over. I hear FOX ended or is going to end Alcatraz as well. I would at least have liked to know what was going on. Oh well. If they bring them back, my family and I would watch.

reply

Is this official or just speculation? I've been looking for something definite and can't find anything.

I did see that Margo Martindale is in a pilot for next year, so that didn't looke like a good sign.

reply

There is nothing definite yet. HOWEVER:

It's not just Margo. Rachelle Lefevre (Kate), Rhys Coiro (Zeke) AND Julie Benz (Christina) ALL have pilots for next season, too.

And Rachelle and Rhys are in the SAME pilot (playing husband and wife), which is for CBS--Gifted Man's network.

Given that, it'll be a complete shock if it is picked up.
