I'm a big fan from the book since I've read it long time ago. I love to see a new screenplay for it made with such effort as this one. I don't mind minor changes, I do not think a movie should replace a novel and do exatcly the same, I want a new flavor, a more contemporary look at classic stories.
That being said I like everything on this adaptation. The pirates are real bad-ass and it took one and a half hour to even get to the island! That's what I call character and tension building!
No silly love affairs, no teenage *beep* no Bad vs Evil maniqueism.... this is the best Pirate movie i've seen on a long, long time (yes, I'm talking to you Pirates of the Caribbean)

Totally believeable. Izzard is great,really showing his acting chops. He should have won an award for this acting job. Will highly recomend.

Agreed, if I ever read the book, I have no memory, if I watched an older version, I have no recollection; so I went in with an open mind to watch pirates and ships and treasure hidden.

I had a great time!

The acting was fantastic. The plot, unfortunately, was complete crap...

I'm having trouble with a patient of mine; he's a teenage drug addict who's being molested. By me.
