What fruit did komona put inside her?

this is indeed a great movie. Just wondering, when Komona invited the soldier/rebel to her bed, the night she waited up for him, she put the pungent fruit inside of herself, so when the man penetrated her, it gave a severe burning to his genitals and she proceeded to take punitive action against him.

So what was the Fruit exactly? I have never heard of anybody doing this but i have of a girl eating pineapple to cause termination/abortion. any thoughts on this aspect of the story.

Also Komona's lover was probably in his teens in the story line and seemed to be 'western'.

And sub sahara Africa - what country is it meant to depict?

reply

Looked like she put a razor into the fruit

the fruit was just there to hold the thing.

reply

it was an avocado seed with half razor-blade encrusted on it.

Her lover wasn't 'western', he was an albino.

If you payed attention to the movie, you would have noticed her taking an avocado, slicing it in half, taking out the seed, cutting some of it off, and putting a rusty razor-blade in it, before she (off-screen) inserted it into her vagina.

I'm pretty sure the voice-over mentioned some of this info as well, although in lesser detail, so if you were just reading the sub-titles, you might have missed a few bits here and there. It happens :)

Also, Magician was clearly an albino, as you could see when they visited the protected albino-camp to find the white rooster. Nothing "western" about that, really :P

reply

Its called a " Ball Slicer" and its native to Chad

reply

"Ball Slicer"

..... but, that's not what it sliced!!!

"and did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there?"

reply

I thought it was an avocado`s seed.

In terms of country, I think it is deliberately non specific. However Coltan is mined in Congo, Ethiopia and Mozambique, so my bet is on Congo.

reply

The location is never specified in the film, but it was shot in the Congo, so I would assume that it's set in the Congo. It wouldn't have to be, but that's what I would assume.

Since the uncle has a picture of Patrice Lumumba in his house, and added to the previous statement about Coltan, it's probably set in the Congo

. . . I get the above every time I'm about to post. I must've written something most offensive, but I can't imagine what it was, truly I can't.

ANYWAY, to the point at hand. Yes, it was the Congo. This most remarkable film, "Rebelle," or "War Witch," was filmed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, (which is neither democratic nor, strictly speaking, a republic), and was situated there as well. Tis a most violent and dispiriting nation of child soldiers.
