Her voice...

A TV Guide interview says "British import (and mother of two) Rosie Pope..."

Sounds to me like she has a hearing problem not an accent.

She claims (on Twitter which I found through Google): My accent is confusing...grew up in London till 18 then moved to NY + married man from Mississippi so southern english I guess!

I am SO glad that I was not the only one!! I thought for certain that perhaps she had been deaf as a child and now had cochlear implants so she could hear but still had a slight speech impediment. I don't think being British, moving to NYC and marrying a southern guy would do that to your accent. If it is a speech impediment of any kind she should come forwards with it instead of hiding it...she should show that you can be stressful even with speech problems.

But if she doesn't have a speech impediment then her voice drives me just insane.

I agree with the other poster, she has some sort of speech impediment. Yes, she obviously (to me) has a British accent which is fine.

Though not to be mean. I actually like her. But yeah, the manner in which she speaks "makes me want to kill myself". When she's talking all I want to do is tell her to relax and/or take the taffy from the roof of her mouth.

If it turns out she has a speech impediment, I'll feel like a terrible, horrible jerkface. And I must say, upon second viewing, it bothered me a lot less. Especially when she broke down about the irony of her not being able to get pregnant again. I must say, despite the affected, pretentious speech, I'm definitely a fan.

She sounds like she is partially deaf, and then throw in a bit of a British accent. There is definitely some kind of speech impediment going on there. Would most people pick up their husband's accent? She was an adult when she moved to the states, not a child.

Exactly! I came to IMDB to see if there was already a thread about her voice/accent because I couldn't figure it out. I heard that she was from London but I only hear bits of an English accent. My BIL is from England and has lived in the States for 30 years and he sounds like he moved here yesterday.

The funny thing is that her husband has no discernible accent. He may be from the south, but his speech is pure, bland, anchorman middle America.

I LOVE her accent/voice/entire way she says words/lisp. So perfect.

I love her voice as well! Never change, Rosie! Not everyone has to be the same, or sound the same or be from the same places.

I have a tiny, girly voice at 30 yers old- on the phone people think I'm a teenager or even younger. It's not a Paris Hilton-put on baby-ish voice but my actual voice! I can't help the way it sounds and have been to a speech teacher for many years. I had a cleft palate when I was born which has affected how I sound. It's not something you change.

I think Rosie Pope has an interesting voice & I like people with these little differences. She is good in my book.

i think it just sounds like a watered-down british accent with a pretty major lisp.

Are you an ass scientist? Cause your ass is blah blah blah...you get the point.

I sooo agree. She sounds like she has a mouth full of marshmallows.

She claims her accent is a mashup of her British accent and the influence of her husband's southern accent. I believe she said her husband was from Mississippi.

However, when she was having a conversation with her husband in the rock and roll couple episode there was no hint of her husband having a southern accent.

I agree with you about her talking like I have heard hearing impaired people talk.

Unless specified as fact, everything above is 100% my opinion.

That's no accent. I guess she's self-conscious about her speech impediment. I miss about every other word she says, and it drives me crazy. When she was talking to the couple (the singer and the young husband), he was looking at Rosie, and I was imagining him saying to himself, "WTH are you saying?" That's how confused he looked.

I came on here specifically to find out where she was from because I didn't know if she was foreign or had a speech problem...so glad i'm not the only one who was annoyed by it. Definitely sounds like she might be partially deaf or something.
