Kristoffer Polaha.. Stay with/leave the CW? He's had 3 shows cancelled.

He was in all these CW shows...

"Valentine" (a mix of rom-com/fantasy featuring Greek gods and goddesses)
"Life Unexpected" (ended after 2 seasons)
"Ringer" (now we know how it ends)

Do you all reckon he should start looking up jobs in other networks?
If you've been with the CW from its early days, you're probably familiar with several actors who have had their shows cancelled, but then they're doing well outside of the network.

Like Michael Cassidy.. "Hidden Palms" and "Privileged" didn't work for him, though he had a good short run on "Smallville", but now he's the STAR of a new TBS show called "Men at Work", which just got picked up for Season 2.

Not saying it's anybody's fault. Just asking for opinions... you think Kristoffer should stick around w/ the CW or leave?

Adoring Haley Reinhart. Ringer rocks!

He's like kryptonite for every freshman show! lol I thought he was the worst actor on Ringer...So wooden and douchy...maybe it was the writing...

This d-bag was NOT the lead in "Life Unexpected," and HE'S the reason these shows are cancelled. Will you *beep* losers stop blaming everybody and everything for the failures? It's NOT THE BLEEDING NETWORKS, (he's been on ALL of the networks and every show he's on is cancelled including GUEST STARRING episodes) it's HIM. He is the common thread with all of them. Not the writers, or the co-stars, or the creators, or the producers, or the directors, or the NETWORKS - the common thread/problem IS HIM.

"I see him as a very capable actor. Do you all reckon he should start looking up jobs in other networks?" - You're the one with the problem then because his acting sucks, and his track record proves it. And airhead, he has a *LOL* "talent hold" at CBS studios, so he can't go any place else. It's a good thing for those of us normal, tasteful people that don't want to see him on TV anymore, because he can only go to the networks that CBS have contracts with. CBS and the CW are pretty much it, there are rarely ever exceptions when CBS is involved. CBS passed on the show because of him and the stupidity of the storyline, they are too smart to put him in a show, and the CW better wiseup soon or CBS should close the network down since they own the lion's share of the CW.

"Like Michael Cassidy. "Hidden Palms", "Smallville" and "Privileged" didn't workfor him, but now he's the STAR of a new TBS show which debuts in 2 weeks (glad he also got on ABC/NBC shows)." - How the hell do you know that it's "successful" if it hasn't EVEN DEBUTED YET? Ever wonder why he's not successful in anything? Because he sucks too. Idiot. None of the shows that he's starred in on the other networks have lasted either, so you just proved my point for me, it ain't the network's fault.

"Maybe Kristoffer should do the same. It could be better for his career. CW's not worth it." - CW is worth far more than this tool Popo deserves. His "career" would be "better" if he'd stop *beep* pretending that he has a real career and let his wife go back to work (and stop getting that poor woman pregnant every year because he's bored and has no life). His wife can act, he cannot.

"He's like kryptonite for every freshman show! lol I thought he was the worst actor on Ringer...So wooden and douchy...maybe it was the writing..." - You're right, he's the worst actor in EVERY show he's in, so no need to backpedal and claim it's the right. Stick to your first instint.

Or maybe you are not a good judge of acting ability. If you found Kristoffer Polaha "wooden," you just may resemble that person who doesn't "know much about art" but who nevertheless knows what s/he doesn't like. A truly "wooden" actor would not be convincing in any role, even as a "douche." If you found the character offensive, Polaha must have done a good job of conveying Henry's flaws ... as delineated by the writers and approved by the director(s). To label him as "kryptonite" because he has appeared in a number of failed shows (in complete disregard of those shows which managed to succeed even though he was in them) indicates a limited perspective on your part-- rather like saying the New York City backdrop or the cheesy background music was the principal reason why certain shows were terminated. Kristoffer Polaha's casting was just a single element of "Ringer," and any number of other factors might have led to the the series' demise.

He probably signed a development deal with either CBS or WB. But he's a consistent TV star, so I'm sure he'll get new work faster than SMG or even Ioan.

He was also in "North Shore" a few years ago, a show on Fox that didn't last more than one season (I actually liked that show, and him on it). But I didn't care for him on Ringer. Most of it was the way his character was written, but he also rarely tried to do much more than scrunch up his eyebrows with a pained and/or confused expression on his face for much of the season.

I haven't seen him in much else (never watched Life Unexpected, and I don't even remember Valentine), so I can't fully judge his capabilities, but perhaps a leading man/role isn't the best way for him to go.

"He probably signed a development deal with either CBS or WB. So don't hold your breath that he'll be on anything anytime soon. The networks are finally getting wise to him, it's time the public followed suite.

"He was also in "North Shore" a few years ago, a show on Fox that didn't last more than one season (I actually liked that show, and him on it). But I didn't care for him on Ringer." - Considering that he plays the same damn character, I don't how you could like him in anything. "Most of it was the way his character was written, but he also rarely tried to do much more than scrunch up his eyebrows with a pained and/or confused expression on his face for much of the season." - Again, it's not the *beep* writting, it's his effing acting. Why are you acting like his 'no expression/expression' is new? Are you getting it yet? That's the problem. That's the basis is ACTING, the expressions are 90% of it and he has none.

"I haven't seen him in much else (never watched Life Unexpected, and I don't even remember Valentine), so I can't fully judge his capabilities, but perhaps a leading man/role isn't the best way for him to go." - The best role for him would be the out-of-work Dad, because again he plays that same role in every show so why not go back to doing it IRL?

Wow, for one thing, calm down. Everything's going to be okay. It's called different opinions as to how someone could like him a different role. Maybe you've never seen North Shore, but his character on that was vastly different from Henry on Ringer.

For another thing, yes, it WAS the way his character was written -- Henry was nothing more than a whiny pathetic cheating dork who couldn't tell how much he was being lied to. Polaha may not be winning any acting awards anytime soon I agree, but the material he had to work with was crap.

It's the nature of the business. At least he's had three shows picked up - most actors don't get that lucky.

Y'all leave Angel 2.0 alone dammit!!! Lol

More like Riley 2.0. After all he read for the role of Riliey more than 10 years ago....THANK GOD, he didn"t get that role. He might have gotten Buffy canceled after season 4!!!

reply

^ Not sure the guy they did pick for Riley was much better, haha!

"What kind of people are you? You should be excited that I have my dream hair!"

*beep* dat they guy that played Riley was FYYYYYYNE!!!! lol

I find him good-looking but his acting leaves A LOT to be desired.

I had a bad feeling about Ringer's chances the moment I learnt he had been added to the cast. He must be starting to be regarded as a jynx about now.

i think his acting is fine, don't know what everyone is going on about!. if anyones acting was off on ringer it was smg!.

Ok Well as far as looking up other networks, also he was in an awesome show on fox called northshore, and IT was canned, So look slike he just picks the wrongs shows in general. I LOVE ringer and hope they save it some how or send to another network.

reply

why did you bring up smallville when you mentioned Michael Cassidy. Smallville was a success. And he was not the reason why the O.C. was cancelled.

reply

Didn't know my thread is still on the top. The OC and Smallville were definitely successful shows - I've corrected my first post and just mentioned he was on Smallville, but his other CW shows - Hidden Palms and Privileged - didn't get high ratings. Well it doesn't matter now, and I'm NOT pointing fingers. After all, his new show "Men at Work" on TBS got picked up for Season 2 so he's got a job he can actually keep now.

Adoring Haley Reinhart. Buy her "Listen Up" album.

Looks like he's going to CBS, so I guess he's staying in the family for now :)
