Only White Mothers Let Their Children Treat Them Like This.

Let's alllll be honest here...

NONE of this would be going down in a black household, in an Asian household, or in an Hispanic household. In fact, maybe this terrible show will finally unearth why so many white women in America (at least the ones I have to deal with--college aged) walk around like they're better than everyone else.

I've witnessed so many white mothers spoiling and coddling their daughters, instilling in them that they are the most important people in the world, and therefore they treat everyone else like we are supposed to revolve around them. And this problem is trans-generational.

I don't care if you accuse me of being racist, or having a chip on my shoulder, or if you think it's a oversimplification. Of course not all white women behave in this manner, but the ones who do kind of just make all of you look bad.

And for context, I am an African American who goes to a predominately white university and I've faced my share of white girls who expect me to hold the door for them, work the elevators for them, not to mention that on SEVERAL occasions they treat our janitors and food servers (of African and Hispanic descent) like inhuman servants. It is pathetic.

Que the stones and naysayers, but all I can say is that what I have witnessed is true and has been my experience, and that this show reinforces where their disgusting behavior comes from.

I agree with you that it's not a race or class thing. I disagree on the trying to be friends with your kids though, it can be done. Me and my mom were very close and were friends, but I was also brought up properly and was never disrespectful to her or anyone else.

Absolutely she did. I thought when I read your first post you were saying it wasn't possible for parents to be friends with their children because they will walk all over you and not show respect. I agree with you that will happen if all you care about is being friends and being liked and are too scared to actually parent. It's sad that people don't know how to balance that properly.

The same could be said about a lot of black folk and their children's lack of education.

That's not just about spoiled white girls- it's about institutional racism and white privilege.

Soonstar would you like me to tell you about all the disgusting behavior I've seen from African Americans? Things which I have witnessed and are true? I'm white and work at a predominately African American company. Stereotyping is wrong and you are wrong for doing it. You are an idiot if you believe that teenagers of non white races do not act like that. I've gotten just as bad treatment from plenty of females of other races. I've seen numerous black, asian, etc women who treat other people as if they are beneath them. It has nothing to do with race.

You think so? This can happen in ANY home! ANY Home because spoiling your children and making them turn out like bullies is not only a ''trans generational'' thing but something that happens to everyone. I am Black like you and 16 but not all White women are like that. My friend, Bunny who is White's mother doesn't tolerate that type of crap you said these mothers on the show tolerate. And some Black mothers are like the mothers on the show as well as well as Hispanic and Asians and not others.

I totally agree with you here.
It is not only any household but any family what ever the colour of their skin, and yes I am not American I am Australian and after reading all that has been posted about this show. I only came across this because there has only been 4 episodes aired, I was wondering what had happened to it.
I also notice the person who posted the very first comment has not left one since, I wonder why that is, would it be due to the fact they got the reaction they wanted on making their comments about certain races ? I for one enjoyed and have not laughed so much just watching the comedy antics of the fictitious family in which they are meant to be portraying. I think you have all let this get way out of hand about whether someone is Black or White, on education, upbringing and whatever else you would like to add into a good or bad family.
If we thought more about how to bring up our own kids, as tough as it can be and less about how others should be bringing theirs up then the world would be a less stressful place in my opinion.
I rarely watch sitcoms, but have thoroughly enjoyed this for what it was meant to be, to have an enjoyable 30 minutes of laughter in which for me it did the job and I miss watching it.

ERM....their relationship with their daughters is so fractious because they deliberately gave them everything, made sure they were attractive and well dressed, etc etc so they wouldn't be nerdy outcasts. That this backfired on the mothers is the entire punchline of the joke (aka the premise of the show). It has nothing to do with race.

Yeah and your post can be likened to "Well, not all black women have 12 welfare crack babies who are a drain on society but MOST of you do. And even though some black women aren't like this
those that are make the rest of you look bad. I'm just saying....I'm sure you understand my point.
