Mrs. Brown's Boys- American Remake

If there was an eventual American Remake of Mrs. Brown's Boys, who could pull off playing Mrs. Brown? The only person or persons I could see portraying Mrs. Brown is Tyler Perry or even Terry Crews? Tyler Perry I could actually see playing Mrs. Brown, because of him playing Madea for so long.

reply

Only Robin Williams could have pulled that role off :(

The character lives and blooms in the mind of Brendan O'Carroll. I sat for the longest trying to think of someone to answer your question but couldn't think of anyone I'd want to see doing it, and I hope it never happens.

reply

Couldnt be done, too much for most Americans, they like tame humor.

reply

No Americans would ruin it, no offense to you all but, you just can't pull it off. American comedy is no where as near as good as the Uk comedy is .

reply

Totally agree.

It seems that every re-make the USA makes is never as good as the original from UK, Australia and New Zealand.

USA makes great movies but it's more slap-stick comedy than things like Mrs Brown's Boys which should be left alone and not re-made.

reply

Wait, you don't think that Americans could pull off having a man in a dress swear a lot, a guy repeatedly walking into the room wearing increasingly ridiculous costumes, and a horribly played gay stereotype?

Are you under the impression that this is nuanced humor? I agree that most UK humor is stronger than that from the US and it couldn't be pulled off elsewhere, but I'm pretty sure Mrs. Brown's Boys could be replicated a million times over by just about anyone that tries...

I like the show - I think it's good for some laughs, but it's not incredibly difficult to pull off.

Hello, hello. What's going on? What's all this shouting? We'll have no trouble here.

reply

Just no

There was one actor that would've pulled it and made a better job than the original Mrs. Brown's Boys' but he's no longer with us.

reply

I'm an American who loves UK shows and I agree with most of the posters here; do not make an American version - we would ruin it.

reply

Agreed. While this show reminds me a lot of the US 80's show 'Mama's Family', I think trying to copy this show now would be a huge mistake.

reply

America wouldn't be caught dead bothering to remake a show this terrible.

reply

No America could never be able to pull it off, that why you have to criticize an amazing comedy like this one, go away why even bother posting???

reply

You REALLY think America is above this kind of humor? I'm American and even I know that's not true...

Hello, hello. What's going on? What's all this shouting? We'll have no trouble here.
