Slow start but turns into a great movie

Does anyone else wish they would have focused more on the mother and less the "coming of age" planning.
Once the movie got on its feet, I became really invested and loved it. Great movie.

I think that the movie is fine the way it is. However I do admit that it would have been nice to have seen more development in the Grace character.

I wasn't sure about this at the start and had a hard time believing Eva as Grace in the beginning. Patricia Arquette and the two girls did a great job. Turned out to be a good movie and I highly recommend it as a great parent/daughter movie to watch.

I would not put this movie in the 'great' category. The movie is to slow and the energy required to make it compelling doesn't show until that last 15 minutes. Mendes does credible work as the single mom and Ramirez shows some depth as a 14 year old daughter who's trying to fit in. The daughter has a writing project called, "Coming of Age". She decides it's best to experience each 'coming of age' item she has identified. I do like the premise of the movie but how it's presented is muddled.
