how awesome is this?! O_O

i just checked what michel gondry is up to these days, seeing how he got a little more mainstream with "the green hornet" (though i found it more critical than most people give it credit - couple of parallels IMO to current controversial issues. guess there was too much action and comedy for most thoughtful people to watch it and notice that...). and i also not too long ago finally watched "manufacturing of consent" and thought to myself "it's a pity that there aren't more documentaries like this one about him".

so to see this announced is simply fantastic! good for gondry. and chomsky. and every human on this planet!

though i just read that it is going to deal with linguistics, not politics or philosophy. which i find kind of a pity. sure, on the one hand it's nice that one of the things chomsky is famous for might get known by a bigger audience but still i'm a lot more interested in the other areas. oh well... let's see what gondry comes up with.

Hi!
Where did you hear about it being about linguistics? It made me abit dissapointed to hear. By the way, the concept - the interviews are going to be hand hand-drawn animation - seems very odd. But I will sure keep an eye out.

Just saw this film. It is really good. The conversations are very interesting and challenging. They range from science talk to theory to education to autobiography. The animation is very engaging. A not to be missed film. Hope yo0u all can see it.

Dictated, but not read.

Watched it. Found it to be a lovely balance/blend of Chomsky's general observations on the nature of scientific inquiry, memories of his life, a nice treatment of his feelings about peoples' struggles for political autonomy/freedom... and a nice little, well-integrated, smidgen of a look at how grammar sheds light on our human cognitive endowment.

And Gondry obliges our need to perceive Noam's integrated perspective by... giving the work a lovely visual/iconic integration.
