Surprised at low (5.5) rating.

I really enjoyed this movie. I thought it was a unique premise - granted it involves suspension of disbelief - that was performed and filmed exceptionally well. Juliette Binoche is very, very good and believable, as usual.

By comparison, Cache (Hidden) is deemed a 7.3. While Cache may have been very well acted, the term "Hidden" refers to the film's raison d'etre, in my opinion.

You become a part of Another Woman's Life, wondering, "What would *I* do in a situation like that?". I hope that as more people see and enjoy this film then rate it, deservedly, its current 5.5 will improve.

I'm not surprised...The script is awkward and it's not even funny (where it could be). It's nothing special. Though the premise is promising, the movie is rather plain and flat

reply

I haven't seen this movie (though I plan to). Completely agree with you about "Cache," though. That movie irritated the heck out of me.

VERY GOOD MOVIE......I DONT LIKE THE END ...(VERY FAST)...FOR ME 5/10

reply

ok movie but a bit messy, 5/10 sounds about right.

I think it deserves a high rating for the acting and production quality, but a mediocre one for the storyline. The story was too much like may other romantic comedies, in which a character is involved in something peculiar and much of the humour is based on his or her attempts to conceal the situation and pretend nothing unusual in happening. This one may be a little better conceived than most, but as soon as Binoche's character said, "But I can't let anyone know!" I recognized the well-worn premise.
The movie was saved, for me, by Binoche's performance, which was funny and eccentric, and made so-so jokes funnier, her entire situation more emotionally stirring.
Maybe the lower rating results from averaging in the rating for the story with the rating for the performance.

Tell me the truth. Are we still in the game?

the acting is good; binoche delivers another strong performance and kassovitz is good as well.
the movie seemed to lack a whole lot of ... dimension.
i did have 2 questions:
-was jeanne (kassovitz's mistress) his cousin? the father mentioned something abot "keeping it in the family" - also why did her son name her stuffed toy after her? what was the significance? were we trying to establish the couple had deep rooted affairs and therefore had a marriage only by name?
-this is more interpretation: is the moral of the story: live in the now, as binoche cries and laments the past she was never able to fully live? would she then move to london and leave her son and ex husband?

it's a dirty world Reich, say what you want

Not surprised at all, as this is a completely nothing film. It's not at all funny. The underlying premise is never given any explanation at all (Yes, people lose 15 years of their life's memories, every other day of the week). The narrative just never adds up. A shy, pleasant girl apparently becomes a captain of international finance ... and even she doesn't know how it happened? Duh! Worst of all, Juliette Binoche is hopelessly miscast, whilst Mathieu Kassovitz doesn't have a lot to actually do, except look morose. I wasn't the least bit surprised when both characters in the middle of the film said they didn't understand what was going on around them. If they don't, how could we possibly get it?🐭

I give 10 for Juliette Binoche who does her usual astonishing performance. Only 5 for the sometimes confusing script. The dynamic of the Speranski family is not brought out well: we need to know much more about the father/son relationship, and certainly more about cousin Jeannette.
