A little confused...was it actually three weeks?

Somebody help me out here please. I figure the grandparents finally said they weren't going to make it at some point in the middle of week 1. When Brian (the dad) said he missed the kids, I took that to mean they cut their trip short during week 2, thus the surprise when they came home. But I think I heard, Jenny say something about having them for three weeks.

So did I miss something and it was actually three weeks, or was it just the writer's shout-out to the title?

I also was confused by this. Also, didn't like the way they threw money around, making reservations and cancelling them, buying tickets and not using them--- in the real world there's a penalty for changing plane reservations!

You can bend things but come on ... sometimes certain things annoy you even on t.v.
