Doesn't deserve 5.0 Should be 3.0

Quite simply the worst movie ever. Totally predictable. Terrible acting. Average cgi.
And did I say predictable?

reply

5.0 is a fair score for this movie, some people liked it and other people didn't.

Not sure how any of those things would make it "the worst movie ever" You just described 99% of all blockbusters ever created since the 1920s, and as bad as they are, none of them are even remotely close to being "the worst movie ever."

Should be 3.0

If it's the worst movie ever, shouldn't it be 0.1? I mean, if a movie got 2.9, wouldn't it then eclipse After Earth as "the worst movie ever."

Yes, clearly it would. You obviously haven't thought this through. I suppose thinking too much gives you a headache. This kind of wilful ignorance as attention seeking seems endemic on the internet, sadly.

It's embarrassing that I wasted some life energy to respond to this post, but I felt it necessary to let you know that you fail miserably at being a troll.

That is all.

reply

That doesn't make their assessment of your post incorrect.

Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.

reply

What a pedantic, egotistic, hairsplitting, pompous, punctilious little turd you are.

It always cracks me up when a critic takes exactly the attitude he or she is complaining about. I bet you are a laugh a minute at parties.

Watta ya lookn here for?

reply

i actually thought that nriks was joking because theres just no way that anyone really thinks or acts that way.

but really i forget that kids as young as 8 years old could be posting on this site, so its really not that impossible for someone to be completely serious with this post.

i actually think ive seen nriks' posts before and believe that it is likely that its a serious post.

I am pretty sure the OP wasnt being literal. It really was one of the worsts movies ever. I'm pretty sure the op didnt mean there hasnt ever been a worse movie.

Your post is no less an attention grabber as you complain about considering all you have done is try to prove that there probably have been worse movies.

I gues you forgot about the $130,000,000 budget??

and the bunch of other risk-reducing aspects it had going for it:
Will smith?
sci-fi adventure family movie (kids wanna go see)?
good opening date without much competition?

it should have been an easy watch and extremly profitable. In reality it was a flop and deservedly so. I have no idea where all the money was spent. Obviously m night pockets a lot of it and dumb people are still content with what they see so he gets away with it lol.

damn its people like nriks that cause m night to keep making movies. It is not okay for m night to keep making movies,

M NIGHT RUINED OUR CHANCES FOR HAVING AVATAR: THE LAST AIRBENDER AS AN AWESOME TRILOGY OR SOMETHING. FREAKING PIECE OF CRAP DIRETOR! THE ENTIRE STORY AND CHARACTERS WERE LAYED OUT FOR HIM! AND NOT IN A HALF ASSED KIND OF WAY EITHER! EVERYTHING HE CHANGED WAS THE GAYEST CHANGES ANYONES MADE FOR ANY KIND OF ADAPTATION EVER! LIKE WHY THE *beep* CHANGE THE WAY THEY PRONOUNCE EVERY SINGLE NAME?!?!?!?!?!!!!!

reply

BRAVO! I'm with you there. Welcome to the internet where in this day & age, it sunk so much lower in learning the basics of critical thinking.

reply

I will submit that MOST people did NOT like it.... While the vast minority of the viewing group actually did like it. And yes.... I gave it a "1" ..... Only because a ".1" wasn't offered to me for submission.

reply

I know this movie was bad!

First, the acting by the kid was bad.

And second, they have advanced technology at this time, yet they fight ursas using cutlass/swords? They don't have laser guns? Geez!

Why is this an issue? Jeez, you guys sure love giving fuel to those Europeans about how we all fvcking love guns so much.

reply

You don't think in that high-tech society of theirs with their advance spaceships that they only weapons they seem to have is a cutlass/sword, and not any laser guns?

This is for fighting aliens and creatures, not about guns to shoot each other. Lighten up.

Basing a like or dislike based upon CGI is silly. I bet you dislike anything pre-CGI era eh? Silliness. Movie makers should have known that CGI would breed an entire generation of peoples who think a movie isn't a movie without CGI.

It's not the worst movie ever. There are good movies and bad movies, none are worst or best ever. But I agree it's a bad movie with bad acting. Most likely, Will wanted to do a movie featuring his son. It's no different than some Dad who takes his son to his first Strip Joint or gives him his first Alcoholic Beverage. He got his cherry popped, end of story.

Predictable? So you knew at the beginning of the Film that this young man would end up in a giant Birds Nest? Perhaps we all knew you would post this in advance and wrote our comments accordingly? No really, it took me 6 days to write this but you knew that right, you're Psychic.

3.0 huh. I think Metacritic has it at about 3.3. There is a good chance they would like your post over there.

reply

I despise movies with poor and cheap CGI because it looks STUPID and cartoony, I find it to be a distraction.

I simply hate CGI because it appears to be getting worse every year, look at the first jurassic park movie, the effects are more believable than the third one that was made years later, how is that possible?

And no, I actually love some pre-CGI films with their gorgeous and believable practical effects that look REAL.

reply

That is uncanny!! I just gave it a 3. I felt a little generous, too.

reply

sorry i gave a rating of 10, it's visually beautiful, W.Smith's grounded acting, great mythology, only bad taste is his son Jaden and some slow pacing in the middle of the movie. For coming generations this movie is going to be CULT

How can you give a movie a 10 rating and then name some of its flaws? If it is a 10 it is supposed to be flawless, perfection...

reply

You can rate a film a 10 on an awesome factor and still acknowledge its flaws.

reply

Not worth worrying about, this is a person who gave ET and the Dark Knight 1 star out of 10...

the kid need to find a new career....

So does the hack writer/director.

He already has one. He runs a charity organization with his wife; the Shyamalan foundation. They support charities and businesses in the local Philadelphia area as well as in third world countries, raising money and also doing general community work. In 2012 they cleaned up an Indian slum that had been controlled by a violent pimp. After having the pimp arrested they brought new capital into the area to making it liveable and safe for local residents.

He's also published two books. One for children, Lady in the Water, and the other a non-fiction book on education reform, I Got Schooled, which he worked on for over five years. Both were well received (the latter has been making serious waves in the U.S. education system; Shyamalan even went to the White House to discuss the issue with Obama).

You Are Absolutly Right! it is more interesting to watch a plant grow when regarded as this waste. Too bad for the money that was spent on this idiocy ...
