Is this a film about Mindfulness ?
I only saw this recently, but I noticed the film has a strong theme of Mindfulness in it, that's now considered fairly trendy.

Personally I think one of the biggest failings of this film is that whatever message it contains is very weak at best. If it is about not having fear, then it is a very strange and even immoral message since the film focuses on the type absence of fear that is most similar to cultic Scientology ideas.
If the message is abou father wanting what's best for his son then it is also a very poor and weak illustration of that since the father shouts at his son for not having graduated the class even though it isn't something that is his fault. He expects him to be a successful overachiever probably because he himself is a "ghost" soldier. Not sure if his son is expected to be one.
If the film is about conservation and environmentalism it fails with that as well due to juvenile and unscientific way it is shown.
