Discuss the ending and future (Spoilers)

So what did everyone think of the ending? I do hope that the obliteration of the Helghast population has been greatly exaggerated, because I was not happy with that pitiful ending. As a fan since the first game I really hated that. The ending itself was poor, but the extra part of it is the interesting part.

So who’s in the craft that they found? Visari or Stahl? I thought some people were crazy at first to claim Visari, but the more you look at the games, evidence, it may in fact be. Stahl I thought by the way was a total spineless weak character, who can’t hold a candle to Visari.

Well first I wondered how could they replace Brian Cox as Visari? Well Malcolm McDowell as Stahl will do just fine! I liked Stahl alot. Although smaller in size but bigger in brain.

As for the ending. It has to be Stahl. I have been really confused by Killzone 3's opening cut scene. Visari and Radec are there but are dead? When does that Cut scene even take place? What was up with Visari's daughter? Were they implying body doubles? Visari seemed the mad man who would use a double but not Radec! If they were both Dead what was the purpose of throwing them in there? But the Helgahn nation is still thriving. I wouldn't be surprised if they had alot of bunkers and more fleets not in orbit. I think Stahl will regain control of the Helghast and probably lose his super weapon. Regather his army and attack earth. Seems the only way to make a substantial Killzone 4. Defend Earth from the Helghast. If the Helghast attack Vekta again its not covering any new ground. We did Vekta in Killzone and Killzone Liberation. Helghan in Killzone 2 and 3. So earth is next.

Well what was the point of that cut scene? It was a real waste. Why show a scene from Killzone 2 at this point?

Thrown in for those who didn't bother with Killzone 2 - a lot of people are stupid enough to play games out of chronological order.

Plus it was cool to see Visari again, and commanding his troops in to battle.

One of the reasons they did the intro I’m sure is because Visari is alive.

1. His daughter pulls back when she realizes it’s not her father.

2. Then at the tail end of the intro “the ISA are here we have to go”. No real point in showing this unless they planned on trying to get Visari out and making the player believe that he is alive.

3. Grunt shot when the craft takes off to cover up the body double. This is also true to people who have witnessed the end of part 2. After Radec is killed remember you find dead Helghast soldiers all over the corridor to Visari’s place/room. Why wouldn’t they fight to the death for their leader? Killed to cover up something? Why would they off themselves rather then defending to the death?

4. Virtually all dictators have a double.

The Helghast nation won’t follow Stahl with great enthusiasm, he may have made weapons but Visari made the nation. He will be a virtual god if he comes out of this alive and leads his people from the ashes once more to wreak vengeance upon the ISA. Just imagine if it's him in that craft, almost rising from the dead.

I’m sure there are plenty of Helghast alive and probably on another colony somewhere else as well. I hope his daughter is alive, she would be better, Stahl is not a leader. I just hope that 1 we can play as the Helghast in the next one. And 2 we invade earth. It seems unlikely now with the silly ending. It could be a more a resistance type game, with the ISA controlling Helghan.

In reality they are probably just moving on From Brian Cox to Malcolm McDowell, so that’s why Visari may be dead.

"1. His daughter pulls back when she realizes it’s not her father."

Could be a good point. Always wondered why she reacts the way she did. The Killzone 2 ending felt more concluding, even tough it left a lot open. The Killzone 3 ending however, felt like a TV-episode was over.

Personally I don't believe it is Visari for numerous reasons (including the Helghast soldiers were Stahl's PRIVATE army, not Helghan regulars....although you could argue that now "unemployed", Stahl's army are looking for a new leader...but I doubt that was the case). But you did raise some interesting possibilities regarding Visari...if this were a movie. Same thing happened with 'LOST'. People had so many involved elaborate ideas, expected to be told on a TV show aimed at the "average" IQ. This is a FPS, with a simple story told through short cut scenes. Trying to explain to some dumb kid who parents do their homework that Visari is actually alive, in several 60 second scenes makes Visari's death pretty secure.I hope I'm wrong and you're right though. It would be a great twist...but unfortunately the lowest common denominator always wins.-----------------------------------------------"...and don't point your fooking tenticles at me!"

Visari is dead, no question. I have to say I prefer Killzone 2 far more than Killzone 3 - the ending of the latter was very weak and abrupt, amongst other problems. The apparent genocide of the Helghast people was dealt with so callously (I know they're the villains, but they are pretty cool) I hated the fact that I was meant to be rooting for the very people who did it. I wish Guerrilla Games would pluck up the courage to let the Helghast win - how many other games let the person you've spent four games fighting against win? Playing a whole campaign as the Helghast would be great - especially if it's as a high-ranking general (there are so many colonels in the Helghast Army and ISA) controlling troop movements. Winning a game by destroying Earth - the ultimate ending - that would be a pretty bold move; if it's achieved by playing as the Helghast that would be very cool indeed.

The last thinkg that I would ever want in this "current" Killzone franchise/series, is to gain a command control over other NPC's. Squad mates or otherwise. This is not SOCOM, or Operation Flashpoint, Rainbow 6 etc, it's Killzone. Just wouldn't work. Hence Epic's Removal of squad control from the Gears series.

Some games are perfect for it, but the last thing FPS titles such a Killzone, Halo, Call of Duty, are is "Tactical Shooters". For better or worse, they're just "shooters", and I love 'em for it.

I think it would be a cool twist if KZ4 would focus on the Helghast, and let you play as a helghast. I don´t know about you, but I´m personally sick and tired of ISA, and especially Rico, and in some ways Shevchenko as well.
Since we have had two games on Vekta and two games on Helghan the next step will hopefully be Earth.
The helghast could have more colonies from which they can summon a great number of ships and soldiers, a fleet large enough to launch an invation of Earth.
And it would be nice if we could get a short explenation of whatever happened to Luger and Hakha from the first game.

Personally, I think KZ4 needs to stick with it's projected story path and the ISA. A lot of time has been invested in these characters, regardless of whether you like Sev', Rico and Co, and this particular "trilogy" needs to reach its conclusion. To force the player to switch sides so abruptly would certainly damage the consistency. KZ5 on the other hand would be a perfect time to begin a new saga, and I agree, having it played out from the Helghast perspective would be fantastic and I would be very surprised if Guerrilla hadn't been thinking along the same lines. Especially as the fans have been very vocal over such desires.I always thought Guerrilla's decision to position KZ2 as though the original Killzone never existed an odd one, also with KZ Liberation (but understandably less so). I enjoyed the multiple character choice for the player, although I can see why Guerrilla decided upon having only the one playable character in the later games. But I can't understand or accept their decision to ignore both Luger and Hakha from the series. Hakha in particular. Hopefully Guerrilla will join the ranks of those rare developers who actually listen to what the fan-base actually want.Thank the Gaming Gods Activison aren't involved. We'd be on Killzone 5 already, with a four hour campaign, over priced DLC, and a multiplayer overwhelmed with 14 year old American males with unbearably high pitched voices, screaming racial slurs and homaphobic rants to everyone. And let's not forget the little w*nkers playing some cheesy teen cock-rock music through their microphone for all to hear. Why? Little ¢unt$!! *inhale*-----------------------------------------------"...and don't point your fooking tenticles at me!"
