First Mother and Cleveland Guy/His Wife

I'm with you on this. Out of the entire group of so-called "scientists" who systematically abused poor Nim throughout his life, the first woman was by far the most disturbing, except maybe for Herb who put it all into motion and seemed to feel absolutely no remorse. That first woman, though, creeped me out the most. Especially when she talked about allowing this chimp to explore her body in a sexual manner, like it was the most natural thing in the world. Even if she DID think of that chimp as her baby (since she allowed him to nurse from her--ewwww!), what kind of mother allows her human child to explore her body in a sexual manner when the child reaches puberty and becomes curious???? And the way she acted so jealous when another woman came onto the scene, I couldn't help but wonder just how far that "exploration" went. And no wonder he was so aggressive toward women after that; the poor chimp was sexually abused and extremely confused.

I'm also disgusted that these scientists thought there was no harm in allowing him to smoke pot and drink alcohol, or hump a poor kitty. WTF!!!

I'm going with Herb being the biggest jerk in this whole story. After all he was the one who put the whole thing into motion without any plan beyond 'uuuuh, let the women figure it out'.
At least the drugs-lab guys had a solid plan and a scientifically-sound reason for their animal-cruelty. And they felt bad abut what they did, while Herb just wants to brag (about how famous his experiment made him)

He was the professor, he was the one getting most of the grant-money and attention, he was the one to dump the baby on whatever woman was sitting on his dick that month.

Cleveland guy seems okay to me: i do think his urge to save animals had a selfish slant, but he was also just making the best of a complex situation (protecting the other animals from Nim, but also trying to give him new ape-companions)
