Sadly Disappointed* (*=Except for Eve Myles)

Paid $30 to download it on XBox Live. Beat it in 4 days, and that includes doing damn near EVERY side quest. Irritated that every dungeon used a patchwork variation of the exact same 3 maps. The Romances were completely broken. My imported save had no noticeable impact on the game at all. It's not a HORRIBLE game, just very disappointing as a sequel to such a great game. Proof I think of the seriously negative influence EA is having on Bioware. It's so disappointing.

The only things in this game I actually enjoyed were the party banter, especially the love/hate conversations between Avaline and Isabella, but the one thing I truly absolutely LOVED ws Eve Myles' performance as Merril. She was an absolute delight and sadly was so good that she outshined damn near EVERY other performance. Only Isabella even came close. I would have happily played a game starring just Merril and enjoyed it ten times as much. Everything else was just.... meh. Hell the only moment in the whole game that evoked any serious emotional response from me was when Hawkes mother died.. Hell the optional high dragon encounter in a mine quest is 5 times harder than the actual final boss encounter.

All in all a very sad disappointment. I expected SO much better from the company that gave us Jade Empire and Knights of the Old Republic.

I'm loving Eva Myles' work as Merril, too. She's so quirky, and her views and priorities can be so unconventional, I sometimes just add her to the party to walk around and listen to her talk, even though I don't find her ideal for my core group from a utility perspective.

I wasn't all that disappointed by this game; probably because I'd had seriously lowered expectations from all the negative hype I'd heard prior to playing.

Definitely agreeing on Merril though! (I'm just loving that there's a game character with a Welsh accent!) It seems like almost everyone else in 'team Hawke' is too flawed, like the designers over-compensated for making anyone too perfect.

Also in agreement about the High Dragon thing; I think that's the only part of the game I had serious trouble with.

I remember the days when Kardashians were just the bad guys on Star Trek!
