Let's start a discussion about naturist films

This film and J.P. Riley's Act Naturally are only two of many nudist themed films coming out recently. And by many, I mean about four.

There's room for more. So what topics should these films cover.

I hear stories all the time about the cops who came into Elysium Fields and took two children away at gunpoint with NO warrant, because they felt these children were in danger.

Or what about custody battles between parents who were BOTH members of the same nudist club, but one would use the nudist affiliation against the other to determine their spouse unfit for custody?

And of course there's the Hollywood version of the nudist lifestyle to appeal to the 1.2% of all naturists who happen to be pot-smoking communal tree hugging hippies with no grip on reality. The studios are more than willing to tell their stories.

After you watch American Nudist. Let's hear your stories and your feedback.

Okay, you got it.

American Nudist turned out to be an interesting enough movie (can't call it a film since the movie was shot mostly on video) with a very undefined plot. Sure there are some peculiar scenes and typical scenarios and even some scenes that were merely meant to be silly and funny, but the storyline, to me at least, appeared so fragmented that I couldn't identify with the charachers, much less care for them.

Technical quality is another issue... mainly in the movie's sound. Muffled, echoey dialogue and wild sound levels indicated to me that this movie could've been of much better overall quality if the sound were done properly. We can continue discussion about this movie's sound quality in another thread which I will post.

Interesting and even intriguing to see that ClothesFree International makes several appearences throughout the show, even more intriguing to think of the possibilities that CFI was behind this project, as not only do they have a fabulous TV show lineup on their site but CFI is a very fine and respectable organisation that is constantly breaking new ground in introducing the wonders of naturism and nudism to the general public and helping so many folks attain a clearer, healthier understanding of what nudism is and what it is not.

At any rate, movies with a true nudist theme are especially difficult to present to the general, movie-viewing public simply due to the many misunderstandings way too many people in Society have about nudity and naturism. The producers of this movie have made some rather big steps in bringing the theme of nudism to the screen and in a way that, despite this movie's many quirks, is mildly entertaining and worth a look despite its flaws. I give the producers of American Nudist credit for being brave enough to see this project through and get it to the viewing public.

Hopefully they will continue to produce, learning from the flaws found in this movie and that their next production is more polished and more effectively carries the message and truth about what nudism is and what it is not.

Thank you so much for your feedback. To be fair, CFI wasn't "behind" this film. They just allowed the filmmakers to use the footage.

And one thing I resent is how everyone portrays the producers as amateurs when they had several films under their belt at the time. That being said, this film came across as rushed and amateurish by their standards. However, there will be no "learning" from this film.

As the author of the book it's based on, I'm already planning a remake based on the original screenplay. And as a screenwriter, I've been called a genius, often dark, usually very funny. But I never had the funds to finance my own films, so what you see is the result of lack of creative control.

The producers of "American Nudist" want to do a sequel on their own, and they don't care about the nudist community at all. Not only were they not aware that they will be offending them, they didn't care to communicate with them at all, which led to me being banned from several naturist events.

And as an actor, I caught a lot of flack back home. Colleagues called it a "disservice" to me as an artist, and from directors, "I got a better performance out of you when you were being chased by an invisible monster in a bathtub."

This film may be the final nail in the coffin of me playing leads, but it's not the end of my productions. American Nudist began as a very compelling story, and it's a story that should be told, particularly by nudists of color. The message is in there, but you really have to dig to find it. It won't be so hard in the remake, "The Photographer."
