Um...New Hampshire?!

Both my mom and I were pretty confused about the high school in New Hampshire. They did say more than once that the high school Jeremiah was attending (with the cows, etc..) was in New Hampshire, which is at least a 6 hour drive from Princeton...

What? Were they driving 6+ hours back and forth? They acted like it was right near Princeton. That part just didn't make sense. Did we miss something?

It's called "movie-time".

There are many examples of this. My favorite one is on the TV series "NCIS". In order to get from some of the places they go to and from in the time claimed, they'd have to average 137.5 mph on the highways.

Lol. So I'm not crazy? They were indeed traveling back and forth between Princeton, NJ, and New Hampshire on a weekly basis? Just making sure. lol :)

Nope. You aren't crazy. Just one more example of "movie-time".

It's better an example of bad movie geography.

Quest didn't need to be in Keene, it could have been in a rural part of New Jersey. That would have been a trivial change to the script and the traveling parts of the movie would have made much more sense.
Even if Quest was only an hour or so away from Princeton, she might have made the obligatory visit to her mother anyway, and all the traveling between Princeton and "Keene" would have worked.

I don't understand why these things are often never corrected in movie scripts. It's like "bad movie physics" and "mad movie weather."

Much of the rest of the movie was pretty good. Loved seeing Lily Tomlin a movie again, it had been way too long. She and Tina Fey played off of each other very well.

The movie probably won't make enough for a sequel, even though there was something of a set-up for a sequel in the last 5 minutes.

Isn't that why she was constantly sleeping over at her mother's house?

I'm glad I wasn't the only one confused by this! The most egregious example of this is when she comes home from the party and Norman is in the back seat. Are we to believe that hes been back there for HOURS without making a sound or moving? Then she just turns around and takes him home like it's around the corner.

I'm not completely familiar with East Coast geography, but even I knew these two places should not be as close as they seemed in the film.

The party was at John's mother's house. I don't know if they said where that was, but it was probably closer to Princeton. So some of those trips were not as far as N.H.

You are absolutely right. This was driving me crazy the whole time!
