FAQ question about the children.

Regarding the FAQ question about the children we're seeing in this film:

At the farewell party we're seeing a boy sleeping on the couch who apparently is the child of one of the couples attending the party. In fact, the one single moment the boy is shown is when the father goes checking on him briefly.

The girl at the end though is probably a casual "acquaintance" of Alexander. Martha and he are meeting at a school yard where children are playing in the background, and we can assume Alexander met the girl there and exchanged some words previously to the scene happening on screen.

Then, while talking to Martha, he calls that girl "Mignon". The name for the prospective child Martha is wishing for, where that name has already been dropped repeatedly during the film. So when he's saying "let's go south not only for us but also for Mignon", he's really expressing his willingness to lead the family life Martha is hoping for, and uses the girl for emphasis.

I heard somebody suggesting the girl was an imagination of Martha, by the way. But that's hardly possible, because they're both looking at her. First Alexander's looking down at her, then cut on Martha and she's looking down, then cut on the girl.

Writing this here because I'm not willing to go through IMDBs "authentication" process required for editing the FAQ.
