How good or bad is this?

I'm a huge fan of Legend of Korra and well Tron Uprising looks bad in comparison. They could be a little more clever with the animation drawings....

Story wise it's pretty decent,it keeps the tone with the movies very well. the music and background/vehicle animations are superb.

However the character animations are pretty poor, a lot of time has gone into other areas but it just seems the actual people are where they cut corners.

It looks a lot like Peter Chung's Aeon Flux. I think its just a stylistic choice. I like it actually.

And there is a difference between style and animation. The style is somewhat rough, but the animation itself is quite fluid.

I think it's going to be pretty awesome. I like the animation a lot, especially how it captures the look of Tron: Legacy, yet it creates its own style at the same time.
Basically, "Tron" is perfectly suited for animation. Makes perfect sense if you think about it.

reply

Yeah, a Cell Shaded CGI is definitely the way to go with Tron: Uprising.

Im not 100% keen on the style myself. But there are few other choices that could be made to feel like Tron. Cell shaded CGI is the best stylistic choice for Tron. And this style in particular because it does not feel overtly cartoony while being a bit extreme.

I think the only way to get it perfect was to go the way of Young Justice or some high budget Pixar movie.

Same here, the style is not my cup of tea really but once you overlook the way it's drawn you won't be disappointed. Decent, quite well written and captivating.

I just finished the pilot episode and it is fantastic! I still agree about the style of animation, but it's not that big of a turn-off to me. The animation itself looks amazing. I have yet to complete all of Avatar: The Last Airbender so that I can watch Legend of Korra, but this show is worth watching.

This is pretty good, takes up the story after The Purge. The animation is very good, quite fluid movement. Has some good actors providing the voices.

I think it has great scope, since we are only in the first city now. I'd expect a little more Anime pace sometimes. Take Trigun, for example, where Vash demolishes cities and befriends new people :)

It's like the revolution is coming to him. All he has to do is step out the front door.

I think the characters are pretty mature for a Disney show, which I applaude to. It's a show that may not well ring with the Halo crowd, but it definitely has a place for it's style. There were some images that absolutely stunned me. More than animation and story could.

The voicecast is great. Much impressed there, too. I wish the actors would also see how great a show this is and keep pushing hard at making it. The theme of Tron Uprising is an old one, but the Isos add a wildcard to the good-versus-evil game. I'd really like to see their part in the series more developed.

The thing is - it's great to stick with a story that's slowly developing and sticking to it can be more rewarding than a firework of plot twists, in the end. However, when things move too slow or linger without decision, it can be diffcult to create cohesion.

I can recommend watching it, and I hope for a 2nd season. Otherwise a lot of potential will be wasted.

I really like the animation for the characters. I think they intentionally drew the characters as such. It's comic book art thrown in with a mix of Anime; Disney took a new and unbeaten road that either few or none have traveled before. I really liked how they put some Cell CGI into the cartoon without overly doing CGI unlike most of the cartoons coming out now.

The way the mixed in both Legacy and the original is genuine; the two years of waiting and taunting was worth it. The story line is strong and there's all aspects of animation that is different from the norm.

reply

Agreed! Though it does take a little getting used to, once the aesthetic clicks into place it's a great ride. Enjoyed all three episodes so far and the series is already growing on me in a good way. Will continue to watch with great interest. :)

I started watching yesterday and I am hooked. The story line is intriguing and gripping, the characters seem well-rounded and well written. Animation is great and stylistic. Well worth watching.

I was a fan after the first episode. This is one of those rare animated series that to me surpasses the film or films it based on on certain levels. I really enjoy this show and hope that it continues to shine like the first 3 episodes. I highly recommend seeing it.

reply

Yeah, it seems animation's a good route to tell the stories, and it definitely is meant to look like that. It exceeded my expectations, sort of a cyberpunk world.

Actually Legend of Korra was quite dissapointing in some regards, characters didn't have a lot of charisma, bending lost a bit of it's martial arts flair, character development was kept to a minimum, and too much focus was put on the love triangle (or rectangle). And personally I'm not a big fan of the speed painted backgrounds and some of the designs.

Uprising first few episodes did have some glaring flaws but it's getting better and better and when the first season arc is concluded it might come out on top for me.

Also just want to add that season 2 of Young Justice has been great. First season was good too, but a bit uneven and with a lot of filler.

no,it ended with the terminal.
And with a very good ending.
This show has been awesome and I
wished people would stop seeing an
animated show as something for children.Hence
a lot of people not viewing this show.
Tron uprising captured the feel of the latest movie
and added some depth to a character like Tron and the
the universe they reside in.It surely can
measure up with Japanese anime.

After seeing THe Terminal, I had to delete my previous comment.

Terminal has to be the best episode of the series. Even if Disney decides to cancel the show, it did end on a high note. However, I would still like to see the stage set for Legacy.

I like the show, the show is good but at some point I think the show lost it's novelty for me (near the 1st 1/3).. and then Tron took a more hands on Approach and we got some Clu and it got more and more interesting near the end. My only complaint is probably Bruce Boxleither's eyes,.. they're so tiny!!!!! How the frak can he see a thing with such tinny tinny eyes????? If they'd just fix Bruce's eyes I'd be like perfect Tron show (actually Tron Legacy is kind of hard to watch now after the last episode if you know what I mean..).

Cant compare the 2 they are COMPLETE diffrent things for diffrent fans if your a tron fan then yes the series is great. If not and your just into it because you a legend of kora fan then no stay with your avatar series since thats their setting.
