*Contains Spoilers* WHY!?!?!

.... and so soon before he gets to have a love scene with the lead character. I felt so cheated.

The writer/director based the story on himself, the Dan Lynch character, and his friend, the William Stephensen character. I don't know if Matt's death was also based on reality, but for me his death fit well with the message the movie was trying to portray. Matt's death was certainly tragic, though.
