treating these service men and women like terrorists

This IS a perfect example of what a horrible, unpardonable, inexcusable travesty the judgemental intolerant religious fanatics forced on a country and the brave men and women that were willing to die to protect America's freedom. The draconian law 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' was enacted. For 18 years, thousands of men and women were castigsted, harrassed, persued and disohnorably discharged. The conservative homophobics thought homosexuality was much much worse than adultery, spousal and child abuse, and drug use and alcoholism, in the military. Since its overturn in 2011, just as in other countries that allow homosexuals to serve, military cohesion and moral has not plummeted nor has the sky fallen mor has the world come to an end. Most, a huge majority, felt like Trumbo in the movie - that another person could hump a tree as long as they could cut the grey poupon when the crap hit the fan. One day our country will recover from this but the damage inflicted on these people will never fade. Most of us honor their desire to serve and risk death to protect our freedoms.

It's ironic that someone like Clinton started the whole DADT mess, a President with questionable ethics, gave life to a policy that harmed so many men and women that wanted to serve our country. I would love to see Clinton apologize for what he wrought, but now that his wife is in the fray it's doubtful either of them will own up to the part they played in this travesty.

Clinton didn't start DADT. The homophobic Xian right congressmen (i.e. Sam Nunn) fought him tooth & nail on full acceptance, using scare tactics (e.g. touring living quarters on a submarine) to influence both the public & POTUS. Granted he succumbed to the pressure & relented to that onerous compromise! Not Clinton's finest moment, but the onus of the DADT travesty belongs to that heartless bullyish congress, mostly GOP power *beep* Granted, DADT harmed many more than it helped, it was a 1st step toward inclusion in the military, even if the step was far smaller than intended, regrettably so!!

Lumping Hillary's policies in with Bill's is not only misguided, it is inappropriate & misogynistic. She unequivocally stated her full support of LGBT rights. I'm convinced she won't stand on her merits, but will champion our causes & stand up to her opponents.

That all sounds revisionist to me. President Clinton owns DADT. It was his. Hillary Clinton jumped on the LGBT rights bandwagon well after it was clear a huge majority of future voters supported same sex marriage.
