Samuel L. Jackson one of the worst actors ?

seems to me 99% of the movies Samuel L. Jackson plays in, seems to be utter utter utter crap...also, his face on the cover of a DVD is a real big warning for me, which means that movie probably has to really suck....
I would go as far not to call him an actor, since he's more of an onscreen prostitute for the movie industry when they need an afro American actor for another run off the mill sh!tty movie...
only movie I have ever seen him shine in, has to be Pulp Fiction....how the hell they got the idea to use him as a Jedi Knight in the Star Wars saga is totally beyong my grasp....to me: one of the worst actor EVER!!!

You kidding me? For an actor who pretty much never refuses any script it seems, he is surprisingly good. He can atleast entertain and hold my attention if not anything else. He has that screen presence ya know.

This is one of the worst if not THE WORST movie i have seen this year. How does Sam Jackson continue to get work? He plays the same "menacing, angry black guy" in every movie. The back of the DVD case says, "Samuel L. Jackson has never been this terrifying." He was much more terrifying in the movie Unbreakable, my favorite Sam Jackson movie and one of only a handful of his movies i can stomach with his one dimension style of acting. For those of you who want a good movie with a total "sadistic and unpredictable killer," i recommend seeing the movies Jack Ketchum's The Lost and The Poughkeepsie Tapes.

where did you ever see the poughkipsie tapes?i cant find it online and i have it saved on netflix dvd queue forever and its never come out on dvd.

I'm not a fan of his at all. His roles always seem to be a joke. He has the same personality and it seems he's "being serious" but comedic.

All i will say to the OP is, he's entitled to his opinion on Sam Jackson, but he'll find that he's in the minority regarding the subject of said opinion. No one is calling him Denzel. But his he does have range, obvious from his comedic one liners in Die Hard, to the sadistic killer he played in this movie. So what he's angry and yells... so does Al Pacino. The movie wasn't the greatest by anymeans, but it had nothing to do with Jackson's acting ability.

Most folk had no problem with him playing Windu in Star Wars by the way. And please, don't quote the links to a few fan boys that were upset, cause i can do that for about any subject you come up with, including this one.

He was great in Pulp fiction.

Good in Die Hard WAV, Jackie Brown, Long Kiss Goodnight, and in the supporting role in Jurasic Park.

He was mediocre in a bunch of stuff.

Admittedly he sucked in the Star Wars Prequels, but so did pretty much everyone; you can hang that on George Lucas.

Are we talking about the same Denzel? The one with the awesome range that post-2000 consists of: Cop with a heart of gold, confused cop with a heart of gold, angry cop with a heart of gold, angry/confused cop with a heart of gold, with a side order of corrupt cop (in training day).

Let's get serious, Sam Jackson does have the tendency to get lazy and accept really crappy scripts, but in between he can still show us what a great actor he is, playing a broad range of roles and genres including independent productions.

Denzel would wish he had a tenth of his talent and charisma. Sorry, but his formulaic Hollywood action movies just don't cut it for me.

Ohh god..SLJ is a mediocre actor. He is amusing at times and at best. I was sure that in this film he was going to break out and start quoting the book of Psalms or possible terrorize his neighbour.

-That is because you are mentally retarded. Never saw Glory, John Q., Philadelphia, etc? It isn't likely that Denzel wishes anything since he is A list. Sorry.

I 100% co-sign your comment. He is indeed a bad ass. He has admittedly had a few mediocre roles but he is effing awesome when given a character of substance. Top 5 actors for my money.

Before he was popular he gave better performances. He then reached a point when everyone knew his name. Sometimes he picked good movies and was terrific. But when he got older and super popular he just started to dial it in.

I still believe he's a good actor. He just needs good material.

I can think of a lot of great performance by SLJ.

In this role in this movie Samuel L. Jackson did everything the director asked of him and more. I think if you are going to have some negatives to say about this movie you might look at the little bit of movie action where they added some sort of special effects for a moment towards the end of the film. I also thought the actress playing the wife could have delivered that last line she said in the movie a little more eerily. The last few minutes of that film should have been better and more intense. I don't know what happened but I definitely blame the actress and the director. I don't know exactly how I would of shot it but it would have been different.

... and getting back to Samuel L. Jackson now ...

If you think he is one of the worst actors after this performance you know absolutely nothing about acting.
