What led to this shows downfall? I have an idea.

I must have been living under a rock the last few weeks, because I just learned that this show has been cancelled. I won't make any attempt to mask my jubilation, as I can't stand Piers Morgan for more than 30 seconds at a time.

But what led to this show being cancelled? In my opinion, it's that it is so drastically different from the show it replaced, Larry King Live.

Larry King, love him or hate him, was an excellent interviewer because he was essentially a human version of a robot that asked questions. He rarely showed emotion. I started watching LKL around 2004 when I was still in high school. I probably saw him do over a hundred interviews. I saw him interview Jerry Seinfeld at least twice. After all those interviews, I still don't have much of an idea of Larry King's political beliefs. In my opinion, that's a good thing.

Larry King was like a polygraph technician whereas Piers Morgan is, in my opinion, just another overexcited talking head like Nancy Grace or Jane Velez-Mitchell. Most people watch these interviews to learn about the guest, not about the interviewer. It's hard to learn anything about the guest when you have a host that stops the interview every ten seconds to bark about his own opinions on whatever is being discussed.

I miss the days of Larry King Live and I hope what whoever replaces Piers Morgan has a bit more tact and grace when it comes to asking questions.
